This is a small, funky coffee shop and restaurant with a stuffed lion staring at you from above. The owners are a Chinese- African Canadian couple who live above. the food is eclectic and average ranging from Asian to Caribbean with local specialties thrown in for good measure. A local chef of Jamaican heritage, Big Al, who lives in my building does guest star appearances a couple of times a month and this is when it's best. The place is on a tiny street shielded from the traffic noise and bustle of the Kingsway by a triangular park where there are these 2 beautiful and gigantic shade trees, just this is worth your trip, and there are very close by and interesting eateries, the Faux Bourgois...
Funny little place on a funny little street. You may have never heard of "Japarribean" before, but you should definitely try it out! Ken and Junko are wonderful hosts and the food is delicious. It might look unassuming from the outside, but it's worth stepping through the door into the Lion's Den. We like trying out the different dishes and have liked everything so far! Tasty tasty!
ohmygosh I wish I found this place sooner. Lovely little restaurant run by such kind genuine people. Walking in makes you feel like you are home and part of a community. Not to mention the breakfast was delicious and VERY well priced. Eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast for $9 is almost unheard of in Vancouver. Please give this place a try, feels good to support local!
Junko and Ken are the sweetest people ever! Tried this spot out since I was craving jerk chicken and they got it in spades! I loved the jerk chicken and I ordered the jamaican patties to go. I even forgot my to-go box and Junko chased me down to give it to me.

They were incredibly busy today, and still managed to have great customer service and phenomenal food. A huge salute to the one woman show behind the kitchen, this is heartwarming food at a great price!
Randomly came across this place on google. Very friendly staff and cool atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised how flavourful my jerk chicken meal was! Will definitely come back when I visit Vancouver
Great little gem with good vibes and atmosphere. Wallet friendly menu. Loved the pattys and oxtail. Come here for a simple breakfast or a Jamaican treat. You wont be dissapointed.
After years I finally gave this a tryI would see this all the time in the little Triangle of shops just off Kingsway and Fraser area.

Parking is quite awful here, as both Fraser and Kingsway fill up.
