This was my 3rd visit for afternoon tea at The Peninsula--the food left much to be desired and the service was FAR too rushed. The savory and sweets look pretty but lacked in flavor. Overall, we feel ripped off to be completely honest. Our friends had just sat and we were catching up when someone rushed over to take our order. We hadn't even opened our menus. Nobody bothered to pay attention to this detail? We asked them to come back as we were not ready. No water was served and we were sweating from the lack of air conditioning in the room. And they cleared the plates of 3 of us when the 4th person was still eating--it is customary of high end establishments to wait until EVERYONE at the table is finished before clearing the table, however, they were clearly in a rush. It was awkward. Our final bill ended up being over $600 for 4 traditional afternoon teas--not how we remember our previous visits over the years. The quality has gone down while their prices have gone up. We were celebrating our friend's birthday and wished we had taken her and her husband to an amazing, fancy dinner instead. To add to the disappointment, as we were finishing our glass of champagne, they politely asked us to leave because their next seating was happening soon. 95% of the Living Room was empty and there was only one party of two waiting to be seated so they did not need our table that quickly and could've given us another 15 minutes or so to finish our champagne, especially since it was 3:30 and their next seating was not until 4pm. We did not appreciate being rushed out like this. Sadly, we will not be returning for afternoon tea at The Peninsula.

Lovely staff that seemed a bit overworked on a Saturday afternoon... but the tea is the worst--oversteeped! This is the fault of management not instructing staff to remove the tea bags/leaves for the duration of the tea service. Went here with my partner and both our teas were oversteeped. I can see how the drawstring cozies they put around the teapots make it hard for staff to pop the lids off. I had the jasmine tea, it was bitter as all hell. I would never add milk and lemon in any other scenario but it didn 't help whatsoever. I couldn 't finish it after the 2nd pour. Yes, you go to high tea for the service and not primarily the tea (go to a specialty tea shop tasting event for that). At the very least though, make the tea drinkable. Finger sandwiches had dry bread but they were still edible. Everyone seems to go here on a birthday, so all patrons were offered their single serving birthday page boy cap cake, which was cute. It surprised me that the cake in the picture is a decorated fondant lid with a tiny piece of cake inside. Endlessly ironic to me that the Peninsula is a chain owned by a Hong Kong-based company, yet they can 't get tea right, hah!

We came here specifically for the brunch buffet but was disappointed to learn that it?s not available, despite it being advertised on Opentable as a feature. Their brunch was still good and service was prompt and attentive. However, it was very overpriced for what you get. I?d suggest waiting until they bring the buffet option back. Furthermore, don?t be concerned about their dress code of ?smart casual?. It is merely their recommendation and not a requirement. Sweats and slippers are apparently fully acceptable here.

This place was easy to get to, 15$ valet parking. Once inside Peninsula hotel, you will see a bar to the side, the hotel lobby, and directly infront the Tea Room. There was a harpist playing which was delightful. The staff was friendly, in tip of filling up the Tea and Champagne glasses.. the food was amazing and the scones!!! The Scones were amazing. It's a 2 hour service and completely worth the money. We did the Traditional Tea with endless bubbles and that was 160$ per person.
