A really disappointing visit. It started poorly when after just 5 minutes we had to ask to move tables as the air con unit we were sat under was dripping on to us and the table. The people on table opposite laughed and told us that 15 minutes beforehand another party had asked to move from the same table for exactly the same reason. Bemused why the front of house gave us this table when others were available and they knew there was an issue?? Service was poor. Waiter was very pleasant. We waited what seemed an eternity (best part of 1 hour) for starters with the waiter coming over voluntarily and apologising for the delay. Starters were good. Mains were a real let down. Great welcome and bar area. Ordered strawberry daiquiri, not my first, tasted awful. Took it back and the bar staff said fine here have another drink free of charge. Got taken to our seats in front of a live musician. Great music but placement meant we couldn’t hear anything. Complained regarding but had to move restaurants and didn’t want to. Ordered starters; tasted great. Main came and we ordered sharing steak, for two person and as sharing expected two portions of veg, which came, two portions of chips, never came. Disappointingly a really poor experience. Initially we were greeted by a really friendly member of staff who promptly fetched our first drink order (coffee and pina colada). We were then pretty much abandoned even though the place had emptied of customers. We had to actively find someone for a second drink and my friend also ordered some fries. The non alcoholic mojitos we ordered were really different sizes; my friend's being much bigger than mine? I actually had hardly any real drink in my glass; mainly crushed ice and lime slices. It was as if the person preparing them really couldn't be bothered. Also, the fries were almost inedible as they hadn't been cooked? They were hard and cold. Ag...
They are getting their marketing bang on at the moment with they’re themed nights. We just did the Italian one which was lovely. Live singer to go with the Italian feel to accompany the Italian menu. The starters I had was excellent, however the main needed more flavour as it was a bit too bland. I do like this place as the decor and surroundings are fabulous and I really like the cocktail bar. However the girl serving the cocktails needs more personality. You need a cocktail maker/server that interacts with the client. Service is very good here but I do get the feeling that the food overall is average. Nevertheless overall if you want a nice dining experience with great atmosphere it’s here...

We visited The Marquis for the first time last night to celebrate my Dad’s birthday. The first impressions were good once you got past the building works a modern feel in sympathy with the age and style of the building. The restaurant was quiet (not unexpected for a Thursday at the end of February), the waiting staff were attentive and personable, but not intrusive. The food was sublime. Everything was well cooked and well seasoned, all the elements on each dish could be tasted in their own right. I can honestly say that I have eaten in more decorated restaurants and not enjoyed my evening nearly as much. We will most certainly be back
A most enjoyable place to stay and dine. The food is absolutely delightful especially the chateaubriand. The staff are positive and friendly, especially the management who went out of their way to see that we had an enjoyable stay after a rather very unpleasant experience at our previous accommodation. We enjoyed one dinners, a lunch and one breakfast and each time the food was of a very high standard, tasty, interesting and well presented. We certainly will be going back if we find ourselves in this neck of the woods again.
A marvellous gastronomic experience at this well maintained and well run establishment . Great location with equally great views from the rear of the property. We indulged ourselves in the sharing steaks, which were of ample proportion and tasty with a large prawn accompaniment. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a great experience, not just for the food, but also the attentive service. First class in all departments.
Another phenomenal meal the the Marquis ! This is now the third time my partner and I have eaten at the Marquis….. Simply blown away, the service and food were impeccable…. So lovely to see a classy venue being consistently good this day in age. What a credit to the management and their team ! How this place does not have a Michelin star I do not know ! We will most definitely be back for more

The Marquis never fails to disappoint! It is in such beautiful surroundings and the service is always excellent delicious food and lovely cocktails. David in particular made sure we had the best experience he really looks after you and he has such a friendly and warm manner and is so knowledgeable. 100% recommend and there are very exciting developments happening over the next few years!
