The room was drab and in serious need of a revamp. Nice big roomy bathroom with bath and separate shower, very plastic uninviting decore. All the chrome fittings and furnishings were rusted. Located directly outside the door to the room was a communal smoking area. It was nice if you wanted to nip out for a ciggy. It's not nice if you are a non-smoker who does not appreciate the smell of ingrained cigarette smoke. On that note, the room had about as much soundproofing as a tent. So when your neighbours were enjoying their ciggies outside your front door you could hear everyone laughing and joking, enjoying their last ciggy before bed time and it did not stop there, when they went to bed you...
My wife spotted this venue as she was passing and suggested it for a early evening Sunday meal for the two of us and our nearly 1 year old daughter what an incredibly pleasant surprise! From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. The service was friendly and very efficient. My wife had a mushroom on toast special and myself the crab ball. Good sizes and really tasty. We decided to order a child’s lasagne for our daughter (her first meal out and we weren’t disappointed. My family have been coming here for years for special occasions, but I am guessing that the chef has changed, as has the menu. They used to do a brilliant pork belly with crackling and black pudding, but this appears to have been changed. So we had a roast instead. I chose roast beef and although very tasty, was not pink as promised, and also there was not one piece of greenery on the plate, just lots of beige and a few carrot batons. The gravy was too thick and not up to the usual standard. The dessert list was also not very inspiring and nothing chocolate at all. This place might be nice if the food was cooked. The cabbage was not cooked and very crunchy to eat. The carrots were the same not great. The turkey had no taste to it at all. After arriving with two freinds we then had to wait a further 20 minutes to sit down to order a carvery. On going to the counter they had ran out of turkey for the ladys we were with and they had to then wait a further six minutes while we started to eat our food. After asking to have a couple of drinks knocked off the bill the girl who was serving was lost and decided to lie and say i had bullied her well sorry the only person who was doing that was Bradley mr i am so he thought. We dropped in for mid-week lunch on the off-chance, not having booked. The welcome was very warm and we were showed to a table without delay. The menu options were not hugely extensive, but there is something for everyone. My wife had scampi and I had the lasagne. Being reasonably quiet, our food was delivered without undue delay. Both dishes were well presented and delicious, especially the dressing on my side salad. The staff were very pleasant, attending to our needs immediately. The overall cost of the meal was not unreasonable and we would wholeheartedly recommend a visit.
We enjoyed another great 3 night stay at the Marsham Arms. As always the staff were so helpful, friendly and super efficient. Once again the food was top notch and they have a menu that caters for all tastes. I would highly recommend the Marsham Arms to anyone wanting really good Accommodation Food and excellent value for money, you won't be disappointed
Stayed for a week having previously stayed in 2020. Great place to stay for exploring North Norfolk. Rooms are of a high standard and the food even higher! Would certainly stay again when we travel that way.
We called in for a spot of lunch. Wow the best Venison pie we have ever had. Excellent flavour beautiful pie crust and the veggies cooked perfectly.
