When one of the redeeming qualities cited for visiting a speciality shop on Maui is celebrities go there , you know it 's a tourist trap. Sadly despite humble beginnings, The Maui Cookie Lady store is just that. It 's the kind of place you visit once, but not twice.Cookies are average in flavour; their claim to fame is that they are huge and stuffed. They are just not that good, certainly not $8 good. My husband said they tasted similar to Cookies by George in Canada. Just a cookie, nothing special, tastes factory made.We tried the lilikoi white chocolate macadamia, which was so sweet it was nearly inedible. I stumbled across this literal hole in the wall when Komoda's was closed and we needed a little sugar rush. When you step in it is a Willy Wonka like hobbit hole filled to the brim with sweets and delightful fairy like decor. Everything is beautifully presented like a lollipop tree. Nothing is cheap, but that's Maui for you. I will say that I do think the value is there as the cookies $6.75 for the one I bought) are delicious and the goods are high quality, like Paia gelato. The salted caramel cookie I got was delicious and big enough to split 3 ways. I wish I could have bought the fairy tree and transported it home!
One of my favorite places to get gifts for people outer island and beyond. Besides just the famous Maui cookie lady cookies, there is a TON of other cute goodies in here too. Seriously the perfect place to stock up on special gifts for visiting relatives and friends. Staff is always friendly and helpful and I always walk out of here with way more than I was planning to buy. You'll definitely find something for everyone on your list here!
An adorable tiny shop that sells not only the massive 6oz cookies in all flavors but also sorbets, ice cream bars, and assorted Hawaiian treats, like local chocolate bars and candies! The lilikoi cookie and strawberry cookie were both perfectly baked, the right level of soft and moist. Really well done cookies. I would buy from here again!
