We made a booking at least 3 weeks ago for lunch on the 24th November and had also confirmed this booking a week before the date. We arrived on the 24th November for this lunch with an elderly infirm person in our party of 4 to celebrate his 81st birthday. To our horror when we got to the door there was a notice stating that the establishment was closed and sorry for the inconvenience , Inconvenience was not the word to describe our predicament! This family friendly cosy atmospheric pub serves fantastic tasty comfort food. Fantastic original features yet modern decor. Very welcoming and warm friendly staff upon entrance. The Sunday dinner was a very generous portion, all home cooked and served promptly and hot. Extra sides also included, the simple touches made this meal feel like it had come from your grandmothers kitchen. All presented beautifully on hot plates! After looking on the website and google, seeing the place does breakfast from 10am, I decided to arrive for breakfast at 10.30... when I arrived the door was open so I walked in. However to my absolute HORROR the tables were full of glasses and empty crisp packets from what looks like the night before.. no one around whatsoever even started shouting HELLO expecting someone to appear but nothing. Clearly they weren’t open but what kind of business doesn’t lock their front door or update their website? Wouldn’t recommend anyone to come here clearly a complete shambles.. I dread to think what their service would be like. AVOID
Lol, the person who reviews below was a lose cannon when he came in to the pub. There had been an issue in the kitchen, where the gas was off and therefore unable to serve food. We were looking for food ourselves, but after being immediately notified, we’re happy to stay for a drink before venturing on. The people were told as they pulled up, that there would not be any food served, but chose to come in and mindlessly rant until he ran out of breath! We returned this week for food and it was marvellous! Will be back!

Popped in to have a look at this pub, and we weren't disappointed, the décor is absolutely gorgeous . Excellent drinks and food and reasonably priced too. Charlotte was absolutely lovely and so welcoming. We will definitely be going back and trying some more of the delicious foods on the menu. See you soon Charlotte Sharron Mark.
Brambles Tea room, at meadow vale nursery, is so lovely. We sat in the summer house with our dog. The staff brought out a bowl of water for our dog. The food is always so lovely, especially the chicken curry. Staff super friendly, really make you welcome. Wheelchair access.
Both myself and my mum went for lunch on a Saturday food and service was spot on and a great choice on the menu with hearty portions would definitely go again. Nice change to the usual cowbridge high street options
I'm not being unkind, but the food here if awful. Pleasant enough people behind the bar, but there are no standards in the kitchen, sorry to say we won't be returning.

This pub is a lovely friendly pub. The food is general pub grub. With plenty to choose from. Generous portions and tasty. Highly recommended
