Romantic and/or fun. The melting pot is a chain with an interesting and fun dining concept. This is not gormet food by any standards. This is a place to have fun with food and your partner or friends. The pace is leisurely because you are cooking your own food. While not the best cheese fondue I 've ever eaten, it is more than adequate. The meal choices are varied but all are similarily spiced so without the various dipping sauces would all taste the same. Our server was pleasant and helpful. The hostess area needs work. Although we had reservations and the place was not busy, we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Our coats were not checked until after we were taken to our table. We were lucky enough to be seated in the private dining area which made for a romantic birthday celebration. Although expensive, there is plenty of food. In fact, we were not able to eat everything we were served and were glad we passed on the salads. The drinks are expensive. Don 't bother with the 'special ' cooking liquids as they are not needed due to the spicing of the food and the dipping sauces. This will never be a favorite, but I will come back when I want to have fun with food!
Expesive yes! Worth the.... Expensive yes! Worth the price it depends on what you are looking for. Plan on at least 1 to 1.5 hrs. Don' t go if you want a lot of food fast. If you want to go at a slow and conversational pace your at the right place. I found the food and experience enjoyable. Love the French quarter option with the Coq Au Vin cooking style.
