Really enjoyed the dirty burger and fries with the dripping sauce! Staff are nice and service was good. Didn't have a great experience last time with an I.D. situation for my daughter and her partner who's birthday it was and 25, had no I'd on her other than a picture of their passports and driving licence on their phone. Which was refused!, so we left, very unhappily. But we have been back and enjoyed it again. Just a shame that night was ruined. However, we will go back. Just make sure if you are lucky enough to not look 30! Have I.D. the service last night was much better. The food is generally very nice. Just don't have the Rumbaba dessert and is is just sponge cake an certainly not what...
Booked a table through Open Table for 7.30 for my wife son and myself. The booking was accepted and confirmed. We turned up to find that the whole restaurant was cordoned off and had been turned into a special events evening. We went to the entrance and were told we could only get in by purchasing a ticket for the event but these were sold out. We then had to go into Alderley Edge to try and get a table in another restaurant which as you can understand, without booking was prat impossible. We ended up waiting over an hour for a table in Gustos. A poor experience all around.
Service was excellent, staff friendly, attentive and helpful. Food came quickly and was hot but the quality and presentation was a little average. Not somewhere we’d choose for a special occasion based on this visit but certainly adequate for a quick mid week bite to eat.
the merlin is a beautiful pub with friendly staff. service very good, eat excellent. can definitely recommend the fillet steak sandwich with sweet potato pommes, it is my decision. my son had the dirty burger he said was delicious. eating is always an excellent standard.

Slow service but food was ok. I think the fact it was New Years Day meant it was not up to usual standard. Quantity over quality. Starter of duck pate and desert of creme broullet were good but let down by main of roast beef.
Overall a very nice experience. We all had Sunday roasts and the beef was excellent. The belly pork was not so good and a small portion. The staff were very friendly and the service good so everybody had an enjoyable meal.
Went here for dinner on a friday night. Good tasting classic british cookery. I had pork with scallops and black pudding awesome combo!
