I visited this pub for a dinner as I was staying in the area and I always rate the decent value offered by Wetherspoons for its food with a drink included. The pub is located on the main A5 although set back from the road itself in a row of shops and buildings known as Varley Parade. It is a large building, which originally was built as a Woolworths store which is how it operated until 1984. The pub was busy when I arrived although I managed to find a spare table at the back of the pub to sit and order dinner on the App. No sooner had I sat down, I observed staff trying to get a man sitting near me (who clearly had a little too much to drink) to leave...he was refusing to budge and a few min...
This isn’t my first time visiting here, I come from out of town to visit friends and always stop here for drink and a quick bite to eat. Every single time I’ve been here the staff have been nothing but friendly and a delight. This time though, I found myself stood at the bar ready to order food and was greeted by a woman (who’s name I didn’t catch) wearing a “team leader” badge with no “hi how are you?” no “what can I get you?” Not even a simple “hello” but a cold, dry, emotionless “yeah?” This experience hasn’t sullied my view of the pub, and I would still definitely recommend a visit to other people, it’s almost certain I will still make a return, but I am concerned that someone in a more...
