My first visit to Morning Star was a great experience. We were there to see a talented musician named Dan Towers, who has quite a following in Oldham after moving from Bury, where he's already well-known and has even performed at Glastonbury. Although we didn't order any food since we had already eaten, the dishes being served looked absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back for some of their famous Cheese and Onion pies. The staff was friendly, efficient, and there were plenty of them working during the busy Easter weekend. The drinks were also reasonably priced and of good quality. Having had several lovely meals here and probably one of the best Sunday roasts around,we booked a table for 7pm on Sunday. When we arrived and told them we had booked a table I heard the guy behind the bar speak to who I think was the manageress and heard her tell him to see if he could find us a table. The guy led us around the corner where he told us he had bad news. He said they had stopped serving at 7 as it was the weekend before a bank holiday! No it’s not the weekend before a bank holiday, that’s next weekend Why weren’t we told when we booked a table to eat that they weren’t serving food. Why weren’t we told at the bar that they weren’t serving food. Needless to say we turned around...
We come here because it’s our local The pub and restaurant are gorgeous proper old fashioned comfortable bar and separate restaurant areas. Food is very pub grub and mediocre The service probably depends on who is on duty the last time we visited it was shocking we waited over an hour for our food, others waited longer, tables weren’t cleared etc. we thought it was because the waiting staff were really busy but when we went to the bar to pay because no one had come to our table for ages) they were both standing around chatting We will probably visit again we really want and need somewhere with good food in Shaw hope it improves soon
I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The service was poor due to understaffing, and the food was not up to par. The soup was overly salty and unappetizing. The prawn and crayfish cocktail was lacking in crayfish and the portion was small. The crispy beef and burger were both bland and tasteless. Overall, I was very disappointed with my meal. Additionally, when it came time to pay using a voucher, the staff seemed unsure of how to process the bill. In the end, I felt that the £40 I spent was not well worth it.

We went for my mother in law's birthday and it was fairly busy but we jad booked our table for 7pm. Nobody came to take our order and we were sat for a while. I went to the bar to ask if it was table or order at the bar and was told it was table service. The final straw was someone's dog peed on the floor next to our table and nobody came to clean it up. Sorry Morning Star but we will not be back.
Went for lunch with a work mate, excellent service and the food was delicious! I had the crispy chilli beef and my friend the cheese and onion pie I had to have a taste and have to say it was the nicest I have ever had!!! Will definitely be back to have a full portion
The food at this restaurant is excellent. It is the best pub food in the Oldham area and I highly recommend it. The cheese and onion pie is the best I have ever had, it tastes like homemade food. The staff are also very friendly.
Sat down and was attended to rather quickly, We had starters and mains and our little one just a main, Food came quick, was delicious very enjoyable. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Place is clean tidy. Thanks so much!
