We are local to the area and walk past this place most nights. We have lived in the area for 17 years and have never been inside. We saw the advertisement outside and decided to give the steak night a go. Our expectations were not overly high, however we had a nice surprise. The landlord and landlady were most welcoming on arrival. When taking our order, specific requests were acted upon and confirmed during the cooking process. Real good value for money and top quality food. The landlord does the cooking and you can tell that he uses the best of meats and vegetables. For just a pound you can add a pudding which is amazing as most places charge about 4 pounds. Would highly recommend and if you are a dog owner they are also welcome in certain areas. Well done to the New Albion as all staff are very friendly and also the drinks are very cheap. We only paid just over 12 pounds for a bottle of wine, a pint and a coke.
We were very pleasantly surprised that entering a pub, in Flanshaw (Wakefield 's answer to the Bronx) didn 't result in any form of physical injury. This is a genuinely nice pub. It has some decent beers. Beep found the barmaid very attractive. There 's an adults only snug which probably seems a little different when the sun goes down but mid afternoon when we were there seems welcoming. We 're going to go back to try the food and for Beep to flirt awkwardly with the barmaid.
This fabulous pub in Alverthorpe has been taken over by a wonderful couple, Paul Chrissy. Me my hubby have eaten here many times over the last month. Good choice of traditional pub food at affordable prices. Haddock chips £5.50 A*. Steak night on Tuesday n Saturday £19.95 for 2 people plus a free bottle of wine, cooked to perfection. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed and will definitely return. Plus real ales a bonus

This restaurant offers great value and most importantly, excellent quality. My partner and I both opted for the beef option, although there was also chicken or pork available. The dish consisted of three thick slices of beef, fresh vegetables, delicious gravy, mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, and a Yorkshire pudding. This meal was the best we've had in Wakefield.
This is our local and ticks most of the boxes. Since it was taken over last year, things have stepped on. They really make an effort in terms of their ales and food and the outside area is much improved, particularly their shrubs and flowers. It would be good to see some proper local ales.
I frequent this pub often as it is my local spot. The variety of drinks available is great and the Sunday roast is superb, especially considering the price. The weekly quiz is always enjoyable. It is a charming family-friendly pub.
Jake bonnet says the urinal is on fleak and the beer is really good! Beer garden is really nice with nice benches and view of Al frescos takeaway

It has been a while since we last visited, but my husband thoroughly enjoys dining at this restaurant because he loves their steak.
