The Northgate - Réservation de table

I had a pleasant experience with tasty food and outstanding service. However, I found the room to be quite disappointing considering the price. The bathroom had issues, including a toilet roll holder that was coming off the wall, paint peeling near the bathtub, and a poorly maintained bath surround. Additionally, the ivory upholstery on the bed head, chair near the drink station, and easy chair by the window were heavily stained and dirty. This is not acceptable for £179 per night, especially with breakfast not included.

Very disappointed. Expectation was for relaxed meal in convivial surroundings. Peach dessert consisting of maximum half a peach, a small scoop of ice cream plus bits was 5 mouthfuls for £9. Daylight robbery! Service was unprofessional and disorganised. Complaint re dessert was ignored, as waitress did not know how to respond. Main courses were tasty, but expensive. We visited, as sister restaurant Packhorse Inn was excellent.

No Wi-Fi so find another ambient music solution! Felt like I was in granny’s front room! Decor goddy, OTT and busy, and not tranquil and in places scuffed and dirty, particularly the kitchen swing door which was in eye shot whilst eating and here comes the killer! £380 for the pleasure! Now I hear you’re closing, it looks and feels like it! Glad I have the black lion as my local, they do Chestnut well!!!!

The food was excellent; we opted for the chef's choice menu and thoroughly enjoyed every course. It was truly superb! The wine selection was impressive, and they effortlessly accommodated my gluten allergy. Réservez une table maintenant

Some of the roast dinners we ordered appeared to have been reheated from lunchtime, and the Yorkshire puddings were quite tough.

We booked to stay and eat here on the way to a family wedding. The food was outstanding. We can highly recommend.
