My husband and I met friends at The Oak for lunch yesterday. It was our very first visit to the pub and we all really enjoyed the ambience, food and drink. The staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating. It's such a cosy pub we didn't want to leave. The food was plentiful, well cooked and presented, excellent value for money too. We aren't local but, we all agree that we will definitely make a return visit very soon and we would certainly recommend The Oak. We have booked here twice inside a month and on both times the restaurant was full. The first time we were sat in the bar area where we had to endure a lot of noise from around by people who were watching the rugby final. Our second visit again a full restaurant and sat at the same table. This time we waited almost one hour for our mains to arrive. Won’t be going again. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1
This is a pleasant venue, especially if you choose a seat towards the back of the pub. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, as the area is narrow and limited. The food was average; we tried the hanging kebabs, which were fine but a bit dry. The service was friendly and accommodating. Overall, I would rate the food a 3, the service a 4, and the atmosphere a 4.
