Walking back from barbers. Have to decide between - walking up the hill to home and microwaving a pie- trying something local then walking up the hill to work it off.Chose The Oak Room.Overall rating for food quality and quantity was okay but nothing special. Had the burger without chips. Actually the first burger I have had for a while that I could eat without needing a knife and fork. Tasted nice but nothing outstanding.Service was similar, okay but nothing special. Sitting outside on a nice day was good however the South facing aspect meant in shade.Price was reasonable, you pay for what you ask not to have but that is to be expected.With so much choice within about 100 metres I doubt if...
Cappuccino number one has been downed. My two slices of quinoa and soybean toast soon followed, one spread with blood orange and ruby grapefruit marmalade, the other with raspberry and strawberry jam. It's a pity to have to demolish the artistic creation that is the quinoa Bircher muesli, but that's this breakfaster's duty. The day's off to a cool, cloudy start, so no one"s sitting at the outside tables. I think I"ll longer a little longer and have cappuccino number two.
I ordered a toasted sandwich on white bread as I am allergic to seeds. It came out as a seeded focaccia roll topped with lettuce ,chicken and Avocado .No top just an open sandwich. when I complained that they cold have ent me to hospital with their lack of care,there was no response. No apology and yet I had to pay for what I could not eat. Language is a barrier at this restaurant if you have issues. Do not go there pure and simple.
Gee Ashburton has moved its way out into the higher SES bracket over the past 6-10 years & it shows how good cafes follow the money.This joint has good & attentive waiters & serves a pretty good (outer suburban) coffee to boot! The breakfast prices, on the whole, were very reasonable fruit toast @ $7.50 & eggs on 3 slices of toast for under $10 (although the museli at close to $20 was excessive). Service is good and friendly. Prices are reasonable.We ordered Whipped Avocado and Wagyu Beef Burger. Both dishes were good but the poached eggs that came with the Whipped Avocado were not runny. They were nearly hard boiled. The soybean bread tasted very nice.After the meals, we ordered coffee - flat white. The flat white was not that flat. It had quite a bit of froth.
