The Old Castle is one of Bridgend's most popular pubs and is now open under new management. The new team are doing a brilliant job; restoring this pub into its' former glory. Visited yesterday for a late lunch with friends. Excellent food, all fresh and home-cooked. Surf and Turf (Steak and Scampi) served with real chips, peas, side salad and freshly made coleslaw that was to die for! My friends had Cod and chips which was the freshest, whitest, perfectly cooked fish in the crispiest batter. I will be ordering this on my next visit! Many people complain about the lack of good pubs in Bridgend but this is far from the truth. The Old Castle restores good old fashioned (with a modern twist) pub atmosphere. Yes the building in certainly inviting but the warm welcome and the ability to make the customer feel special is a dying art, both Geraint and Katie (and all staff) certainly make you feel that way. The Old Castle treats customers like family!!
this is such a nice pub, personal really friendly, and impressed as it was kept so clean during the night. the captain wore a cap) approached us to let us know that a table was free so that we had one. in any case will be restored.
After years of flitting between hands, finally the old has got some caring owners. Geraint and Becky have turned this pub around and made it a welcoming local pub once more.

One of the best pubs in Bridgend, the staff are always cheerful and courteous. They are always ready to laugh and are never rude. 10/10 for customer service.
Great proper pub. Great atmosphere, sports on TV. Live music . Not long been taken over and they are doing it proud!! Back to how it used to be..
