This charming pub was originally built in 1550 and completed in the 1590s. It has been operating as a public house since the 1950s. I had the pleasure of being the manager there from January 1994 to August 2002. It’s a fantastic place to visit, rich in history. It was originally named Wren Hall and was once owned by Mitchell's of Lancaster, though I'm not sure who owns it now. It makes for a great stop whether you're heading to or coming back from the Isle of Man.
A friendly member of staff helped make our visit tolerable but the place is a sad mess. For a historic and previously iconic venue, it is regrettable that it's been allowed to become so dilapidated. That may have something to do with the clientele as well as management and/or owners. Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1
The restaurant definitely needs a fresh coat of paint and a new interior design. It has the potential to be a beautiful pub, but as it stands now, it's quite disappointing. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 1
Lovely quaint pub historic fireplaces inside ,pity no food could do with a spring clean outside to get the punters in but very very friendly staff and they welcome dogs total bonus. Réservez une table maintenant
This is the best pub in town! The staff are friendly and the prices are affordable. We always make it a point to visit whenever we're in Heysham.
