This was our first time dining here and it was for Valentine's Day. There was a fixed dinner price per, excluding drinks. The place is surrounded by construction, but GPS will get you there. Parking was a little rough, there was no handicap parking near. Once inside the staff and our waiter were punctual, knowledgeable, and friendly. The atmosphere here is very laid-back chill, the bar has a good selection of spirits. They do carry allocated bourbon. The menu was filled with culinary creativity. We had stopped in here for a drink one night last year when we had reservations at the sushi restaurant down the street. Tonight we decided to have dinner here before heading to Brooklyn Bowl for a concert. The cocktail program is excellent but we were slightly disappointed by the food. The seafood heavy menu is very creative, especially for a land locked state like Tennessee but the execution was not 100%. Many of the dishes were over complicated and unfortunately prevented the star of the show, the high quality fresh fish, from shining through.
I have heard mixed reviews of The Optimist, but was excited to try it based on my love of seafood. It did not disappoint. Everything about the Seafood tower was excellent. Gumbo was good. And let’s talk about those rolls. Best bread in Nashville? Perhaps. Since I had already had oysters shrimp AND gumbo I went for the KC strip. It was also very good. Our server Sydney was excellent. Right on top of it all and personable to boot! All together this leads to a rare 5 star review for me! I can’t wait to return.
it is a great place to buy fresh seafood. the ambiente is rustic camp, the service is top notch, and the eating is excellent. the only weak of the optimist is the dessert menu, but they are likely to be clogged for dessert, so that is not a big problem. I would come back some certain elements on the menu, but really everything is so good, there is really no reason to do that and also an a to the cocktail menu.

we had a great meal! we began to utter and they were excellent, clean and with all those they want. then we split the baby cale salad, the otopus and the redfish. salat is incredible and the oktopus can be the best we have tried in nashville. the red and the broth in which he was were amazing.

eating, service and energy were amazing. pepper was our server and helped us ask or recommend. she went beyond and beyond. this place is a hidden gem!
one of my favorite places in nashville! yall do great food and drink. no suggestions, just wanted to publicly rave over them.
