Absolutely shocking, dont go! When we got there to check in, was met by a rude lass, got keys to room, carpets going up full of dog hair, the smell was fusty, like it hadnt been cleaned in years, got to room, huge cobwebs everywhere, spiders all over, bedding was stained and throw had mud all over, thick dust everywhere, smell even worse in room and very cold, old worn dirty sofa in room, like off back of a skip, bathroom grotty, wee stains on toilet, grime around sink plug, sh9wer head full of thick grime. Jacuzzi bath was full of hairs, walked straight back out and asked to speak to manager, she came in and was like whats the problem? we explained and she basically said they never have any...
Do not waste your time in going here for food. I have never been served such an awful meal and have had better food in a Wetherspoons. Went here for tea in the week. Menu had completely changed and the chef talking to us seemed like he was new. Guessing the restaurant has been taken over. Ordered a ‘pulled pork’ burger which was £17. The burger came out on a normal cob (not a burger bun which is fine.. but the burger was black and tasted like rubber.. as for the pulled pork, OMG this was a chopped up grey pork loin which had been put on top of the burger in chunks with a drizzle of bbq sauce. I hate to complain and was really hungry so would normally just tolerate the meal and not go back ag...
Very disappointed. I’d done lots of research about the local restaurants in the area where I’ve recently moved to and this one had lots of good reviews. I booked a table for Friday evening and had conformation of the booking … reminding me that they’d need the table at 20:30. We arrived just before 7pm . On getting to the door we noticed that the lights were all out in the restaurant but that didn’t register with us. We told the barmaid we’d booked a table for 7pm. She disappeared for a few minutes which then made me doubt my booking … I checked that we were in the correct place … which we were. I visited this restaurant after seeing some positive reviews on Facebook, and I was not disappointed. Making a reservation through the website was easy, and all necessary safety measures like track and trace and masks were in place. The ambiance was warm and cozy, perfect for a cold day. While the drinks took a bit long to arrive, the food came soon after and was delicious. All the meals were hot, generous in portion size, and of good quality. The waitress was attentive to our small children and made us feel welcome. It was a pleasant surprise that kids eat for free, and this should be advertised more to attract more customers. My experience at this restaurant last night was fantastic. I ordered the steak and stilton pie as well as fish and chips, both of which were delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and they had implemented all necessary safety measures for the current circumstances. The pub has a charming old-fashioned feel in a beautiful countryside setting. The Manager, Rob, and the rest of the staff made my visit so enjoyable that I can't wait to go back.
Rang a week prior to book for the booking of 16 people just before the kitchen closed after talking to the chef this was all booked. To the night everything ran super smoothly, super welcoming even though we arrived early. Once ordered food came out promptly and was amazing!! Portion sizes were just right and for an excellent value for money. Highly recommend and very likely to come again if staying at the same location!!
Visited today after seeing some wonderful picturs of food there on friends Facebook Well i think we picked an off day because it was not an impressive Sunday lunch Would have liked a few more than 3 pieces of potato and a risen Yorkshire pud not the soggy flat thing on top of some dry fatty tasteless beef ....service ,staff and place lovely and great views ...but a NO from me .
This was my first visit to this restaurant for lunch and I was impressed. The menu is diverse and reasonably priced, and they offer a good selection of real ales from Kelham Island. The staff were friendly and attentive, and there is plenty of outside seating with beautiful views overlooking rural Derbyshire. Réservez une table maintenant
Excellent, stubble across this place on bookings.com , but will add it to my favourite list. So friendly great rooms and the cherry was amazing evening bar food., freshly made and with such care in presentation. Love it when you’re totally caught off guard and surprised. Will definitely stay again
