The Poet at Matfield

I had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant. The food and wine were excellent, with the scallops and jasmine tea burnt cream being the standout dishes. I was pleased to find that they offer decent wine by the carafe, which is a rare find. Unfortunately, the lunch menu is not available on Saturdays. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I highly recommend trying the scallops. Overall, it was a bit pricey at £100+ per person for lunch, but well worth it for the quality of the food and service.

What an absolute find!!! First we were welcomed by one of the owners Tom, what a great chap, full of enthusiasm and knowledge when it came to the many local Gins, beers etc on offer. His knowledge of Whisky is second to none, and that’s before we’ve even got to the foodOMG Scallops, Haddock fish cake, followed by roast Pork and Beef, with the biggest yorkshire puds! all delicious and we will be back!!! oh and the staff, delightful, smart and confident. This pub is absolutely fantastic with outstanding food and service. The Sunday roast is spectacular. I highly recommend dining in for lunch. The price per person is around £50–60. The food, service, and atmosphere all receive top marks of 5 stars. The Sunday roast comes highly recommended. There is plenty of parking available, including free parking lot and free street parking options.

Went for a business lunch want an incredible day. Start to finish. The team at the The Poet are exceptional. The food was delicious and Tom advised on the wine selection to perfection- though it should have been the bottle rather than glasses (that said the cost difference is minimal). The food at this restaurant is incredible. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is brilliant. The Gun Brewery Extra Pale was also superb. I highly recommend this place. Food, service, and atmosphere all get a 5-star rating.
