I love this place. I haven’t been for a couple of years, but motivated by my memory of the fish and chips, I recently went back to see if that memory held up. For my money, this is one of the best fish and chips anywhere in the Boston area. This is as close to what I’d get from the chippy as I have found. I appreciated that the bartender set salt, pepper, and malt vinegar down in front of me without me asking. My friend and I had an extremely relaxing evening at this place after I had a very tiring moving out/in process on May 1st. The chairs and atmosphere is so historical and beautiful and my friend and I were gushing over it for quite a bunch of times. My friend order burger and I ordered fish and chips and both were great. Rude host and waitress. Host just pointed her finger in my face and gave me an attitude when I asked to sit outside. Waitress walked passed me 5 times after giving me water and tended to other people when it was very clear I was ready to order. I?ve only been in Boston for 2 weeks and cannot understand why everyone is just so rude here. To finish this off my salmon on my salad was undercooked
Drinks are good and the seating arrangement is good. I had the fried calamari with a spicy sauce. The calamari was good but the sauce not so much. Service was good despite the whole covid. This is an excellent tavern with great atmosphere in washington square. I love their selection of belgian beers. They have an expansive selection of bottled and draft, and the pricing is reasonable for the area. Their mac and cheese and fries are also excellent.
Had a reservation for Thanksgiving day with a friend. The service was extraordinary and the dining was amazing. Delightful environment and the food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend to anyone!!
