Live guitarist Thursday to Sunday with very intimate seating. We had a reservation at the restaurant, but they offered to seat us here if this is what we wanted. It was super cute but the lighting is a little bit overbearing with the blue and red lights to set the vibe. There's also a disco ball which kind of feels out of place. It's great that they offer this option to check out this location. It looks like every couple except for one stayed for their meal here. Their service was friendly and efficient. Also, the menu is the same at both locations. We ordered: Butternut Brie appetizer, beef Wellington, and seafood squid ink fettuccine, bottle of rose for dining in. To go, we ordered the ban...

This place was SO CUTE. A must experience place! We sat at a little two person booth with a round table in a corner and felt immediately relaxed and happy. Ryan was our waiter and he was FANTASTIC. He made the entire atmosphere even better. On to the food since that’s probably why you’re reading this. 1. We got the burrata and beets and it was DELICIOUS. Creamy and fresh and the sauce was to die for. 2. Then we got salads the Arugula salad and the Kale Caesar. Both were so incredibly flavorful! The croutons on the Caesar were the highlight for me. 3. Our main dishes were the Beef Wellington (a favorite at the restaurant) and the lamb shank and risotto. Holy moly they were both exactly what w...
Had reservations for the larger restaurant next door, but they were very accommodating and let us start with a drink here while we waited for our table. Ended up staying here for dinner because the vibes were great and it honestly felt more intimate. Cute disco ball, purple mood lighting, and live music- how could you not want to stay?!They have the same food menu and bring it over from the kitchen at Red Door. Fried calamari had a great golden crispy layer and prepared like a large french fry. The chipotle dip was good. The bucatini was filling. very fresh tomato sauce that was sooooo good. Tiramisu served in espresso cup was super cute and a wonderful light dessert.
Our server was great! She had great energy! However, It was not clear that the bar reservation was a separate building with a very different vibe. It was not what we expected at all. The food was ok, but not amazing for the prices. And it was too dark for us to see the food. Some ingredients were missing from our dishes, no cauliflower puree with my scallops and the short ribs were on a bed of Brussels sprouts!!! Nothing else. We were also unfortunate to have a X-mas party group that claimed the entire space, adding to our disappointment. Réservez une table maintenant
Every year, I visit San Diego once for business. Each time, I stay in the Mission Hills neighborhood because it is low-key, friendly, and has terrific restaurants. At the top of the list is The Red Door. On this visit, I ate at the adjoining Bar at the Red Door. The bartender was engaging, the food was terrific (as always), and the feeling homey and comfortable. I started with beets and burrata followed by orecciette. Both were delightful. I look forward to coming back next year and having a memorable evening at The Red Door.
Exquisite! Truly a great experience. We walked in and were seated right away. Food choices and drink options were perfect for us. Conversation was easy to have there. The chef visited all the tables to ensure the food met their expectations.
Lovely decor, surrounds and great staff who were very professional. I had the Steak Wellington which was as lovely as it appeared, deserts are amazing.
Excellent experience; would highly recommend the beets as an appetizer and the beef Wellington as an entree. Definitely worth the extra cost. Réservez une table maintenant
