The River Bistro At The Crowne Plaza

Food was okay. The menu was a much reduced one from the one available online. Choices were very limited. When we entered I had to follow a lady up and down the bar a few times before I could engage with her to tell her we had booked a table, to be told, “nobody told us!” We were told to “just sit anywhere.” It wasn’t busy, but was noisy due to a table of 4 quite drunk and rowdy locals who swore at each other a lot. We had a gift voucher and had to approach the bar to pay as nobody came nearby to be able to ask for the bill. It took 4 members of staff before anyone knew what to do with the voucher and we were able to pay and leave. I feel a bit sorry for the chef as it was pretty nice food, b...

Drinks order was taken as soon as we had all arrived and meal order shortly afterwards. Food arrived in a timely manner and was excellent and at a good price. We intend to use more regularly.

We arrived at 12:40. Our order was taken at 13:10. Food arrived 13:35. Restaurant was cold. Several guests noted same. We had to plug in a portable heater. Food was beautiful.

No point in booking ahead as you get the worst tables available.
