Expensive for what it is! Went for sunday lunch and had the meat platter , which is essentially 3 slices of meat with some potatoes and a side salad. Potatoes are listed as crispy they 're not. Pork was dry, and beef looked like it had been sat on the plate for about a week. Partner had the steak and ale pie, was OK, but had clearly been microwaved as the pastry was soggy. Disappointed and won 't be back.

We’ve eaten here on several occasions over the years and never been disappointed. This time we were accompanied by our son’s family. All our meals were exceptional and, in particular, the lasagne which came with chips and a lovely salad, and the steak ale pie which was amazing. Thoroughly recommended!

Beautiful old pub, done out really smartly with really friendly and helpful staff. A great old fortress-like building. I have to say that I thought the food was poor though. Mains are £14-20; my burger was totally tasteless and my wife said the fish and chips were better in Wetherspoons!

The food here is top notch. I just can't risk trying anything else on the menu because the steak and ale pie is so good!! And as I have discovered yesterday, the bread and butter pudding is probably the greatest food I have EVER tasted. Service was excellent and atmosphere perfect.

The Rockfest end of July is a must. Bit pricey for drinks tho.
