The Rosebud on Taylor is a great place to bring out of town friends for an authentic Chicago restaurant experience. The food is classic Italian, and I highly recommend the veal in many different preparations (veal piccata is my favorite). Wine list is wide ranging so it is possible to order a good wine at a good price, but also possible to splurge. Specialty cocktails are a bit pricey. Fried calamari appetizer is excellent. This is a traditional Italian restaurant that has maintained quality staff and plenty of them- so service is attentive.
We had a perfect evening at The Rosebud! Our server, Robin, was very helpful, friendly, and attentive. The food was exceptional. My husband had the frutti de mare and all of the seafood was fresh and properly prepared. I had the orechetti with Italian sausage and broccolini. It was delicious. It was our 31st wedding anniversary and we were surprised with a delicious mousse cake! Also had the spicy calamari as an appetizer and it too was very tasty! We will be back.
We had reservations but decided to sit at the bar. So glad we did. Met a few great couples we chatted with and they gave lots of other local recommendations, even drew us a map! LOL. The bartender was Addyson. She was amazing with her recommendations. We just wanted a snack because the night was young! Had the mussels in white wine sauce the artichoke. Delicious. If you are visiting or just looking for a great local spot, look no further.
This is becoming one of our go-to restaurants when visiting Chicago. It is some of the best Italian we have had. I will say that the Rosebud on Rush is nowhere near as good. But this location has a nice, classic feel plus some top notch staff. I couldn’t find gnocchi on the menu as I had seen before. But our waiter asked the kitchen and they eagerly obliged. Pork chop Calabrase was like hiding into hot wings with ghost peppers, phone completely in edible for my palate. The maître d’ was gracious enough to take it off of the tab. Everything else was wonderful. I recommend the carrot cake.
Always a pleasure at The Rosebud on Taylor. The food is matched by the ambiance and warmth you feel when you walk in the door.
An old staple of Chicago serving authentic Italian food. Great small environment. Excellent service. Incredible food.
