We had dinner at the Sandbar on Saturday night. The minute we walked in the door we felt rushed. Even though they invited us to sit in the lounge and enjoy a cocktail, they also tried to usher us to our table quickly since they were expecting a large party. Our courses all came out really close together with little or no explanation of what it was. My husband doesn't eat red meat and the substitutions were thoughtless. We were looking forward to an exceptional dinner after reading some reviews.The service is very good and friendly even there was a communication problem due to Language.Food is over worked with too many ingredients. Flavours are mixed to the point of beingunrecognisable . One dish had a cream and mushroom sauce which was excellent.I would prefer white plates to be able to see what I am eating.Chef is trying too hard. The ingredients are first class, therefore please let the product own flavours come through.Atmosphere is comfortable and elegant. Unfortunately it is hard to find the stairs to the restaurant and you have to ring to be let in. This is not welcoming.I hope that the talented chef...
Wow!!!!!! And this is in Batemans Bay. If I could give more stars, I would give The Sandbar 10 stars out of 5. With some intrepidation we decided to try the $90 degustation menu. Seven courses of absolutely stunning bite sized gourmet dishes you would never find on an ordinary menu - and most of the ingredients are sourced locally. This would be the most divine meal I have EVER had. Worth every cent, and the hostess was divine - all class. Apparently the menu changes every few weeks, and we will be back - again and again. Just superb.
I had heard great things but I was still pleasantly surprised how amazing the food, service and atmosphere was. Being Greeted by the lovely hostess was just the beginning. Then the first course came out and I was blown away. Each one was outstanding filled with flavour, imagination and a passion that the head chef obviously has for his beautiful food. Thank you for bringing such an enjoyable experience to this part of the Coast.

I could go on and on like all the other reviews for The Sandbar telling you how exquisite the food is presented, how amazingly delicate but delicious is tastes but at the end of day the best advice I can give you is... don't be scared to try something a little different. Japanese/ French fusion sounds a bit hit and miss but holy **** it works!
We had exceptional service and the high quality 6 course degustation menu was an beautifully prepared variety of dishes. The exquisite combination of flavours was a delight to experience. Elegant surroundings and welcoming atmosphere. We were very pleasantly surprised by the high quality cuisine. A truly memorable anniversary dinner.
A simply magnificent, contemporary dining experience at Sandbar! We were blown away each time a plate was delivered to the table! Oohs and ahs from all of us over and over again! Very creative presentation. Wonderful surprising flavours. Stylish, modern decor. Lovely service. Outstanding. Don't miss this little gem!
Do not miss dining here when in Batemans Bay. The food is out of this world. I tried sea urchin for the first time and loved it. The cost of $90 per head is really worth it. The meals take you on a foodie adventure. The staff are also excellent . Highly recommended. We will return again for dinner.

Brilliant world class food. Had the degustation which was the best food I've had anywhere in Australia. Service is exceptional too. Also loved the breakfasts and the view and the comfortable chairs.
Cannot believe the quality of food and service in this restaurant. Amazing flavour fusions. Do yourself a favour and have a meal here !❤️
