I visited The Swan for a Sunday Roast and took advantage of their offer of three courses for £32 per person. It was a bit more than we usually spend, but the quality of the food was exceptional. For starters, I had the squid while my wife enjoyed the duck croquettes, both of which were fantastic. The highlight was the beef roast, which was incredibly tender and flavorful—quite possibly the best roast I’ve ever had. Every component of the meal was delicious. While the dessert was good, it couldn’t quite match the main course. The service was outstanding as well; the staff was very attentive and checked on us frequently. Redeemed somewhat by the lovely, friendly staff, the restaurant it's self was disappointing. The highlight, the fish of the day, was really tasty. Perfectly seasoned and battered. Sadly, everyone else's was poor to awful. The burgers were entirely inedible overcooked in its extremity, with diners being unable to swallow bites without having a sip of a drink due to how dry it was. The pasta was lifeless and soggy, also very overcooked. The calamares cheap and frozen, served with an unseasoned mayo. Drinks were ok we had to send back one cocktail due to the taste, and no draught beer was on offer as they had no gas. Overall, an average experience brought lower by high pricing.
We came here for dinner last night as a group of 5 adults with 2 children. It’s the first time we have visited The Swan since it was reopened earlier this month under new ownership. The decor is beautiful, clean and welcoming. The staff are professional and helpful, and the food was to die for. We are so thrilled to have this absolute gem in Littleport and will be back often! Thank you so much to the new owners for doing such a wonderful job with this place. It has been given a lot of love and it really shows. Consider us future regulars. So happy!
It’s wonderful to see the Swan open again, and it looks fantastic! I haven't tried the food yet, but I stopped by for a couple of drinks on New Year’s Eve and was surprised by the price increases. £14 for a beer and a vodka and coke feels quite steep for Littleport, making our usual Friday nights out at the local pub no longer feasible. It's a pity because I was looking forward to returning weekly to kick off the weekend. Now, I’ll have to go occasionally instead, and perhaps I’ll try the food while I’m there. It’s such a pleasant pub in a beautiful location, yet on a Friday night during peak dining hours, we were the only ones in the restaurant. Clearly, something isn't working. I suggest they offer a more affordable and varied menu to attract more customers. As it stands, I can see why locals might not visit, as the prices exceed what many can afford. The only bright spot was the fantastic staff, but I do worry about their job security given the lack of patrons.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. The food is wonderful, and the draft beer is typically good. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough real ale drinkers to justify a good selection of ales. I had a delicious roast lamb that was succulent and cooked perfectly, with lovely vegetables and roast potatoes. While a few changes in management have led to some issues, I would still recommend this place because they genuinely care about their customers.
What an incredible spot for both drinks and dining! We had a fantastic experience—the staff was friendly and attentive, and the decor made it feel more like we were in Cambridge than in a village. The rooms offer stunning views of the river and feature well-maintained balconies, giving off a top-notch vibe. This place is truly an absolute hidden gem!
We’re very impressed by the new Swan in all aspects. The renovation is a success, it’s much more modern, bright and welcoming. Staff and owner are always friendly. I had a fantastic experience at the Swan Hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. I had everything I needed during my stay. While the breakfast was a bit pricier than what I usually find at similar hotels, the quality of the rooms and service was outstanding.
