We were here on a midweek evening for a meal with friends. The outdoor area was packed with a private party for someone who worked at the Tap House. On one of the hottest evenings of the year, we were seated in a boiling hot dining room with no fan or aircon. The service was abysmally slow; our order was taken, but the food took a long time to arrive. It wasn't worth waiting for the meat was ok, but the chips were undercooked and bearing in mind the slow service, it didn't seem worth compaining. The beer very cheap, I admit was warm and watery. After our plates were cleared, no one came to ask if we wanted dessert until we caught the attention of the manager who wasn't even working that nigh...

No not go here. I never usually write reviews but I am absolutely disgusted in the service me and my partner just received. We waited to be seated and we weren’t even acknowledged so we presumed it was a restaurant we’re we seated ourselves. We sat down and were service by a lovely young waitress and waiter, we explained where were sat and they said this was fine and took our food and drink order. A middle aged waiter then came up behind us and very aggressively shouted “Why are they sat there” then proceeded to shout that the table was reserved and moved us off (no reserved sign anywhere) he then stormed off behind the bar not making any effort to reseat us so we had to leave a feeling very...

Hoped to get a table on spec , luckily they could accommodate us , one of the hottest days of the year we opted to eat outside under their marquee which was lovely . Menu was varied with a good selection but not too many like the chains do which can be overwhelming , I opted for gammon melt and my husband had a burger with pulled pork , he said it was tasty , my gammon was moist and not at all salty , our plates were ample with lovely fresh salad and crispy chips , drinks were very reasonable as was the food. There is a microbrewery at the rear which was closed much to my husbands dismay but we will return , it was really lovely

Despite living just a few miles away, this was our first ever trip to the Tap House…and I’m upset it’s taken me this long it. Despite it being a very busy Thursday evening the service from the excellent waiting staff was quick and courteous. Our starter of Camembert was delicious as was my rump steak and my wife’s salmon. Cooked to perfection and with a decent portion size. The treacle sponge to close was top notch also great. We will be back. Réservez une table maintenant

First time we have eaten here and we were not disappointed. We had the two for 14 pounds lunch menu and its was excellent. Great beer too so all in all a good visit. Busy pub, great staff and good value. Ask yourself why many other pubs are quiet and this one is busy. They have the answer! Next time we will go by train so we can have a proper drink and relax, after all it's only 10 feet from the train to the pub door.

The food was excellent, the prices were reasonable, and the staff was friendly. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. We were staying nearby and dined there on a Tuesday. The food was so good that we went back on Wednesday. The fact that there were many other diners on both nights only reinforced our positive opinion of this pub and restaurant.

We had never been to this restaurant before, but it was highly recommended by multiple people we spoke to. The experience met our expectations and the recommendation. The friendly staff served delicious food and beer. We all had a great time and would highly recommend this place.

Excellent pub! Good beers, excellent food and proper value. The menu is ‘old school’ , good steak/burger etc, chips and salad/ peas . Nor pretentious, just good food , at sensible prices. Would recommend to anyone, especially if you are a doggy lover. Would return in a heartbeat Réservez une table maintenant
