We stopped by this restaurant for dinner while visiting Salem. We decided to try it because it was the highest rated restaurant in the area, and it did not disappoint! We called ahead to check the wait time for a party of 3 at 6:30PM on a Monday, and were told it was 15 minutes. When we arrived, there was no wait at all. The hostess and waitress were both very friendly. The service was fantastic - our waitress was attentive, quick, and fun. We shared the honey chipotle hummus plate, which was absolutely delicious. I had a late lunch at this restaurant and the cozy wing back chairs by the fireplace really enhanced my experience! The service was excellent and prompt. The French dip sandwich was absolutely delicious. The au jus dip had a perfect balance and complimented the lightly toasted pesto focaccia perfectly. The combination of caramelized onions, cheese, and mushrooms was just right. I would highly recommend getting the sandwich with truffle fries!
During our visit to the area, we decided to have a late lunch at this restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly and the establishment itself was gorgeous. We had the truffle parmesan chips as an appetizer, which were absolutely delicious. We also ordered the bolognese and the fancy grilled cheese, both of which were excellent. I had a great experience at the Tavern. I was staying at the Hawthorne for the night and decided to make a dinner reservation. The crab cakes were delicious and the risotto was exceptional. The service was outstanding, our server made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy dessert in our room.
