Thirty years holidaying in Perthshire and this great find has so far eluded us. We booked for 6pm and despite the horrendous rain and localised flooding, the place was buzzing with young, old and in betweenies Locals and holiday makers. Roderick, the inimitable cool dude (who I shared my days in the Carolinas with) was charismatic and welcoming, explaining that we might have a five minute wait before our orders were taken. Such information keeps the clients smiling and drinks were served swiftly. A bonus was the Specials Board with some cracking surprises. All the staff are enthusiastic and eager to know that their diners are happy without being intrusive. Happiness abounded. The food-sensational- and the concept of offering large and small portions is an innovative one. A mixture of old charm and modern flare. Even the toilets are a delight! All in all the Ardler is the in place to be and everyone would like to have such an establishment as their local. This will be first on our dining list when we are up visiting again. Hail to the Ardler and all those who work there!
Last minute decision to go out for lunch led us to The Ardler Tavern. Just wish I could say all our last minute decisions were this good! From the moment we arrived (we hadn’t booked and it was busy) the young man behind the bar was attentive and helpful. Found us a table quickly and the young lady (also very attentive and helpful) brought us menus and showed us the specials. Food was ordered and brought out quickly. It was delicious and plenty on the plate too as well as being reasonably priced. We had all three courses, well we just about managed three courses, with only two minor disappointments from my personal pov the liver was delicious but needed gravy, or at least the offer of it, and the cocktails, whilst also delicious, were too small! The young man did say he would take the gravy suggestion back to the kitchen and they appreciated constructive comments. Anyhow, we will definitely be back but will ensure we book ahead next time. Can’t wait!
Incredible little gem! Delicious food, and great choices, really is something for everyone! But the main reason we will be back is because of the staff, in particular Roderick!! What a friendly, charismatic soul so even when incredibly busy has time for everyone and makes everyone feel so welcome! An absolute credit to the place! Saying that, all staff are lovely though and we can’t wait to go back!
Lovely cosy atmosphere, have an extensive menu full of family favourites, along with a daily special board. Kids menu available and large selection of alcoholic and soft drinks. Very busy so would definitely recommend booking if you can. Wholesome, fresh homemade food. Will be back.
