The Tavern Grill

Friday 5/24 busy, but not overly busy, we arrived 6.30pm. They don’t take reservations for smaller groups but we were able to waitlist for a table using my phone 30 minutes prior to arrival which was nice. We wanted to watch the Timberwolves during our meal. Only the manager was allowed to change the channels on the TV, (I’ve seen this before and it always puzzles me why the servers aren’t able to do that). After 5 minutes the channel was changed. Emma, our server was really nice. The bar staff were struggling to keep up and we waited a long time for our drinks. I felt bad for Emma as she was embarrassed the drinks took so long. We had the Fish and Chips and Potato Waffles with Gyro, it looked good coming out, but unfortunately it was cold. My drink tasted strange so I took it up to the bar to try and get it swapped out. This ended up being quite the process with the bar staff making me feel like my drink was fine and I was interrupting them while they were so busy. Anyway, it’s a good location to meet friends, maybe will try on a different night to see if it’s better, the experience on Friday might have been a one time thing.

I ordered for myself and my partner on the phone. Her food was fine, she got the Thai chicken wraps. I ordered the Cubano. Given that the Cubano at Tavern Grill has Korean BBQ sauce on it, and the menu does not state that it has mustard on it, I ordered on the phone with an actual person. I clarified that I wanted no BBQ sauce, and only dill pickles (they also put sweet pickles on them? , and that I wanted dijon mustard. She said it was no problem. Got back to where we were staying and the sandwich had pork, cheese, and ham on it. No pickles and no mustard. I don't expect cuban bread, I don't expect a Cuban sandwich like I could get in Miami or Tampa Bay. But I do expect to get what I ordered if told it is possible to sub ingredients. The waffle fries were weirdly tasteless (I have eaten here before and they were great . Pretty disappointed and I will not be returning. I gave it 2 stars only because my previous dine-in experience was great.

First and last time here The food was cold/lukewarm my omelette was tiny, for 25$?? My boyfriend got his food and was done before my food even came out… figured the waiter would do something to accommodate us after we expressed our frustration but no. And our whole table/menus smelled really badly like mildew too..

The food was fantastic. Our server Jeremiah was absolutely fantastic! Best service I've had in a long time. Nick was also great as we had a party of over 25 women.
