Skye is also home to the restaurant Three Chimneys, which is about an hour's drive from the main town of Portree. Nestled on a picturesque ocean inlet in a charming white cottage, this restaurant highlights the very best of Skye's local produce. Although it lost its Michelin star a few weeks after my visit, I would still give it five stars in my Foodie Melbourne guide. This establishment has been operated by the same owners since 1985—longer than I've been around— and even though they are no longer on-site, they remain actively involved in maintaining the ethos and high standards they have cultivated over the past 30 years.
We've wanted to visit the Isle of Skye for some time now, hoping for a weekend filled with hiking and stunning views. My husband knows that the best way to win me over for a trip is with excellent food, so the first step was to check if Three Chimneys could accommodate us for dinner. Once we secured that, we booked hotels, transportation, and handled all the other details. The setting was lovely, and while some of the dishes were very good, others didn't quite impress us as much. Still, it was definitely worth the visit.
We had an absolutely incredible evening. We enjoyed the "Taste of Skye" menu right at the kitchen table, in the kitchen itself. We had the chance to see the chef at work, chat with them, and explore the surroundings. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The food was nothing short of amazing, beautifully showcasing the products of Skye. Yes, it's on the pricier side and a bit off the beaten path, but it’s absolutely worth it for a genuinely memorable culinary experience that you won't forget!

It’s been a while since my last post because I just spent five weeks traveling around Europe. Let’s just say it will take me a few months to sort through all my vacation memories, but it was definitely worth it! I won’t bore you by recapping every meal I had across Europe (you can check out @foodiemelbourne on Instagram if you want to see all the amazing food I enjoyed), but I absolutely have to share my incredible dining experience at Three Chimneys on the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
We have been wanting to go to Isle of Skye for a while, for a weekend full of hiking and beautiful scenery, but my husband also knows well that the way to my heart, and convincing me to take a trip involves bribery, which in my book equates to good food. So, first step was to make sure Three Chimneys had space to accommodate us for dinner. Food was tasty and the setting out the window was lovely. Didn't blow us away like L'Enclume or other spots but solid meal.
Absolutely incredible evening. We did the Taste of Skye menu on the Kitchen Table, actually in the kitchen. We watched the chefs cook, spoke to them, walked around. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The food was simply amazing- it showcased Skye's produce beautifully. Yes it is expensive, and yes a bit out of the way but absolutely worth it as a true foodie heaven experience that you will always remember!
I had a reservation with friends on Thursday evening and flew in from Belfast specifically for the occasion. However, when we arrived, the pub was closed. There was no phone call, no notification—nothing. It was completely unacceptable. Others who had also made reservations showed up as well and were met with the same situation, with no communication from the establishment.

I had an absolutely amazing lunch; it was the best I’ve had in a long time. The food was cooked to perfection, and it genuinely made me smile all afternoon!
