How terribly disappointing in every way I booked an a la carte dinner for 2 to celebrate our wedding anniversary this evening. The only times available when I booked were 6.00 or 6.15 pm . So l booked 6.15pm . I did receive a confirmation email but didn't open it for obvious reasons because it said CONFIRMATION!!. When we arrived the no 38 Restuarant was empty they said it was fully booked) but we were directed to a small table in the middle of a rowdy sports bar. We went along with this and then they said you have to order your food at the bar yourself. I tried to do so in a state of some bewilderment only to be given the all day menu. I went to No 38 where I had actually booked and they ga...

What has happened to the Tower? Living very nearby, this has been our favourite eatery for years. A friend and I dropped in for a drink and light lunch last Saturday. All day menu is now very basic. We both chose a prawn and salmon light bite. What arrived was a small table spoon size of pate with a teaspoon of savoury jam on the side. Nothing to spread it on or even a few leaves. The taste was bitter, unpleasant and not of the menu stated ingredients. The texture was like dry goats cheese. We both left it as it tasted barely edible. Thankfully, we had ordered fries on the side. We asked our young waitress to express our reviews to the chef, but didn't hear anything back. On leaving, we were...

Oh dear, what a great shame. We used to like dining here, but on our last two previous visits we were so disappointed. Family came over from the USA to see us and we took them to No 38 for a family get together. On that last visit on Fathers day, it was a complete disaster. The Sunday roast was inedible and the Yorkshire puddings were all but cremated. This was followed by ice cream served on warm plates. After complaining they reduced the bill, but I would have been happy to have paid the full amount or a little bit more if the meal was acceptable. The staff were very nice, but the food was as poor as it gets and most of it was left on the plates (x6). Unfortunately this experience has mean...

Located within a hotel, this restaurant is tucked away from the main roads of Lincoln. It's a pleasant walk up Steep Hill, near the Water Tower. We decided to try the A La Carte menu, which we found to be reasonably priced. The blue cheese souffle was absolutely delicious. I have a special rating system for Sticky Toffee Pudding (STP) based on the amount of sauce I receive, and this restaurant came close to a perfect score. However, I have to deduct a point for the lack of greeting upon our arrival. We found ourselves waiting around at reception for about 5 minutes, despite it not being busy. Fortunately, the service improved after that and we had a very enjoyable experience. Réservez une table maintenant

We went here for Sunday lunch and because the restaurant was full we were put in the bar next to an open door out onto the terrace. Prices were the same in bar and restaurant. We soon had people from the terrace using the door as a short cut despite a chair blocking use. Yhis key to people's backsides in our faces as they squeezed past. When Sunday lunch came it was cold and yorkshire puddings like dough. We sent it back and tired of waiting told staff we were leaving. We were nit charged for drinks or starters

After enjoying a fantastic meal at this restaurant in the past, we decided to return expecting another delicious meal. Unfortunately, this time the experience fell short. The restaurant was nearly empty aside from one other couple, and the staff remained as friendly as before. I ordered the burger and my wife had the duck, but we both left feeling disappointed by how bland our food was. My burger was particularly tasteless. Despite this, we won't let this one off night deter us from returning in the future.

I had a fantastic dining experience at 38. The lamb dish was absolutely delicious and still lingers in my memory. The staff was attentive and friendly. I am looking forward to returning to try more of their delicious menu offerings. Réservez une table maintenant

We booked the restaurant for Sunday lunch. There was 14 of us, 6 of whom were children. The staff were excellent and very accommodating, the food was lovely and we all left very full. We really can’t recommend the Tower enough.
