Avoid this cafe for certain bad service shocking staff truly a big miss in my book. Arrived at 9.30 am departed at 10.55am no food and asked for my money back and left. They told me when I ordered there might be a short wait . So as I'm waiting along with 6 other tables one bloke walks in obviously regular sits down gets served straight away then a bit later another walks in served there food straight away while all 6 tables still awaiting food. Basically the chef and the helper are too busy talking and none cooking of food going on. Eventually after 1.5 hours of waiting two other tables walked in now the last one in then got served before us. After sitting in a freezing cold cafe no heating...
Went Tuesday below list of pros and cons. Cold beans Over cooked egg Grissly tough bacon Egg put on top of breakfast a nono. Bland coffee Fried bread tasted of mushroom oily taste blackish in colour. Soggy toast Pros OK sausage. Tips Tips to the cafe Heat your beans Gently fry your eggs Keep off mobile phones Toast only give butter portions so they don't sit and go soggy Clean your cooking oil regular Crisp up the bacon a little Cook mushrooms not in old fat. Try lightly oiling fried bread not dip in cooked fat days old. All in all a poor breakfast. The previous owners had it right. Won't return. V P very poor.
Called in on Tuesday morning we were the only 2 customers in there think the prices have gone up but definitely not the standard's Coffee was instant but not a good brand Breakfast I had scrambled egg which was overcooked and waterry mushrooms greasy beans barely warm sausage was alright My partner had fried egg with his breakfast which was overcooked and hard yolk which shouldn't have been sent out if she had any pride in her job After all we were the only 2 people in there so it should have been perfect which it definitely wasn't shell not be returning
We now do our weekly bacon butty treat for the staff at the Village Pantry on The Green.We used to use the other cafe but that’s gone down hill. A good selection of traditional English breakfast options especially Bacon n mushroom on a toasted sandwich with sauce (sauce optional). Eat in or takeaway and always daily papers on offer to read whilst waiting.If your a hard worker and need some fuel try this place out

Came here today and was surprised it had been taken over. Asked for scrambled egg on toast and for the egg not to be put on the toast as makes it soggy. It came with the egg on the toast. Asked for a cheese and onion batch to take away and still waiting for it. One lady that works here was on the phone instead of serving so had to wait ages for my breakfast. Won't be coming again.
Greeted by friendly staff. Had an all day breakfast and large breakfast. They let me swap a sausage for mushrooms, so accommodating. The food was lovely. The down side was the tables are dirty. The table hadn’t been wiped and looked grubby. One staff arrived while there. Commenced cooking. She hadn’t washed her hands. Neither of them did actually.
Very happy with my visit to the village pantry as I am always. The staff are the most lovely in which you could hope for and I have now tried most of the menu me wouldn’t rate anything under 5. Well done girls you are doing a brilliant job:
This cafe is under new management so it has been newly redecorated and has new food on the menu. The staff are friendly and the food is great. Great for breakfast, brunch and lunch Healthy and not so healthy options Eat in or take out
