Went for a family meal, one way system in absolute chaos, doesn 't work. People queuing at the bar blocking the way in and out. Kind of expected no carvery (even though it was advertised on their website) so was dussapointed. Asked at the bar as to why, and was told that they only do it on Saturday and Sunday, so comment was made is that vecause you are not very busy, I was told that they were fully booked! I have been a patron of this restaurant since it opened 8.5 years ago, and have experienced both good and bad times. In early August, I visited multiple times for drinks and food, and noticed a significant improvement in the food quality since the new head chef took over. However, my recent experiences have been disappointing due to the poor service from a particular staff member. Despite having made a reservation and receiving confirmation, she refused to let us in and even denied us the opportunity to order a drink. We visited as we were staying in the Travelodge next door, so the Watermead was a convenient dining option. This was the first time we’d eaten out since the lockdown, and we were very reassured that the place felt very safe with lots of space between tables and staff taking social distancing measures very seriously. I stayed at the Travelodge across the street for work and have dined at this restaurant many times before. Unfortunately, this time the food quality was quite disappointing. The salad looked old and the rump steak, which should have been rare, was overcooked and unappetizing. It didn't even look appealing (see photo). Despite this, I didn't complain at the time because I know businesses like this have been struggling. The staff, cleanliness, floor markings, and sanitizer were all excellent. Hopefully, once things return to normal, the food quality will improve.

My wife and I stopped by this restaurant after a long drive and checking into the Travelodge across the street. We were unsure if we would be able to be served without a reservation, but the hostess was so kind and managed to find us a table, giving us a specific time frame to eat before the table was reserved. The server taking our food order at the bar was outstanding and sets a high standard for customer service. This restaurant is top-notch and the management should be proud to have such exceptional staff members working for them.
We went to the Watermead on the 19th August when the food was excellent, piping hot and good service, we have been again this evening the 25th what a difference a week makes, I had the hunters chicken my husband had the scampi and both of us were served cold chips, the plates barely warm, yes the chicken and the scamp was hot but that was all. The previous week a waitress asked if everything was alright which it was, this week nobody came and enquired if we were satisfied. A most dissapointing evening.
hi Unfortunately we have had the displeasure of eating here over the last two evenings and on both occasions the food has been terrible and the beer expensive, this evening however the manager was rude despite us being the only customers they had, she explained how the kitchen staff had bent over backwards for us to eat there even tho the food was clearly microwaved and thrown together. Greeted at the door on arrival and was told about the COVID-19 measurements in place ... food was spectacular and the staff were so friendly and chatty whilst keeping their distance.. 100% recommended but would definitely book a table with how busy it is . Thank you all so much

Had a very warm welcome at the door, Staff were very helpful and friendly. Ellie and Jonathan served us and nothing was too much trouble . The food was excellent, all fresh and hot. The pub is clean with a simple arrow system to follow Will definitely be calling again
Booked a table for our family..the food was absolutely disgusting.curry was a microwave meal with soft popadom warned up naan bread.burnt sausage..warmed up garlic bread..service was 1/10.never eat here again..
