had such a good day here. booked the call the midwife hiking tour for Easter Sunday. this was very informative and brought us to share who would probably not have dared to others wisely. I was previously underwhelmed by the idea of the roper, but in reality it is epic and I loved the smell at the place where they did it. the tour also included the access to the props from the TV series and all stalls are identified. if they are not interested in that there are so many other things to do, including many restaurants and the commanders house gardens. this is also a high-time location apparently. I loved going on the boats and, above all, the Rettungsbootmuseum. I love the rnli and glad to see t...

Brought my 5 year old nephew here and we both enjoyed ourselves! Theres and indoor play area near the restaurant if you need to pass some time or sit down to eat. The submarine was great and the staff were very informative. If you pay to get in once it gives you a free membership for the year to come back as many times as you want so good value for money! There's a lot to do there so no time to be bored. There are lots of interactive activities to take part in whilst you are learning about them. We learnt loads and had fun exploring the boats!
I had a fantastic day outdoors, filled with plenty to see and do. I explored naval ships and submarines, getting the chance to board them and walk around. There were interactive activities available for all age groups, and the layered exhibits kept things interesting. A visit to the rope-making demonstration is a must! Overall, it was a fun and educational day at a fascinating historical harbour. I would give it a perfect 10/10!
Fantastic museum with lots to see and do. Probably won't be able to do it all properly in a day, but most tickets are valid for a year! Great selection of displays, boats and ships that you can board (the submarine tour is a must) and more informative/static displays in galleries around the site. £25 may seem somewhat expensive, but you'll want to visit again to finish what you missed! It's been nearly 30 years since I last visited, and I must say it was just as enjoyable as I remembered. It was a quick trip that everyone in the family enjoyed. We had cream teas at the café, and they were delightful. It was definitely a fantastic day for both young and old. And if your nimble companion happens to be a little mischievous, it will add an extra element of fun!
This is an outstanding historical museum. The dockyards and exhibits are incredibly extensive. We spent an entire day there and didn’t even see half of it. We’re so glad we have an annual pass so we can return another day. The interactive and informative exhibitions, including the rope factory, submarine, and café, were all fantastic. I can’t wait to visit again!
I forgotten how lovely and interesting this place is. A great range of activities and a very knowledgeable and helpful members turned our school trip into really hands-on history lesson. Will definitely go back in a less official role as the range of boats, ships and historical artefacts is worth to be explored.
