We visit Hatfield Heath quite often since our daughter lives there, and we occasionally stop by The White Horse. This pub has a very friendly, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere. You won't feel out of place, as the regulars mostly know each other and are always chatting, but they're more than happy to include newcomers if you're up for it! The food is exceptional—far better than average. If you're in the area, you won't be disappointed if you swing by for a quick pint or a bite to eat. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The service was disappointing. My guest, who was enjoying a coffee she purchased at the bar, was told she couldn't eat her own food, even though she was just having some fruit she had bought nearby. I ordered the lasagna, which had very little meat and was overly rich. I couldn't even finish half of it; the portion was overwhelming, and the staff's attitude was off-putting. My friend described it as typical of Essex. If you're looking for a place that caters to heavy eaters, this might be the spot for you.
