The Windmill Chatham Green

Passed through on my walk of the Essex Way in the May day bank holiday weekend. The previous 2 pubs I had tried were closed and I was hankering for an evening meal and a rest so I came to the Windmill not realising how fancy it was! Despite that and my less than ideal attire, the waitress was as an an angel to a weary traveller and found me a seat. After a bread basket with a deliciously salty spread, a cauliflower risotto and of course a chilly pint, a man on the edge walked another few miles or so into the night and slept happily in the woods with a smile on his face. We stayed overnight very recently in the Old Windmill room. Nancy handled our last minute booking brilliantly, and was a pleasure during our stay. Really lovely on point service helping us arrange taxis, a drink, a time for breakfast in the morning. It was really beautifully decorated with lots of marvellous touches throughout. Including a gorgeous in room roll top bath. Tea, nespresso coffee machine, lovely beauty products. Breakfast was a real treat fresh fruit and berries, and an excellent full english. We can't wait to stay again and sample the roast dinner which sounds amazing too.

Wow, what can I say? There are very few high quality, dog friendly restaurants but this one made our little girl so welcome (even given special treats! . We decided to have the Tasting Menu and I can honestly say there was nothing I didn’t like! Tom is an exceptional chef, and Nancy an amazing front of house being attentive to all the customers. Michelin quality food, the star for which will follow as the restaurant develops. Thank you Tom and Nancy for a fabulous evening.

Outstanding! The set menu and tasting menu is of the highest standard. Every element of every dish has its place on the plate. The flavours are subtle but flavoursome. It's Michelin standard, and there is clearly a lot of focus on sourcing good produce. Service is personal and attentive, but not overwhelming. Truly a gem, and set lunch menu is an absolute steal for the quality on offer. A great great restaurant.

Totally incredible food, taken to another level. You can see and taste Tom has put his heart and soul into his amazing food . His partner Nancy just full of smiles, and so informative about the food and drinks, Just amazing.
