I just wanted to write a review because I used to work at this pub for a couple of months and this is what I have to say about this place. A little background so I applied to work for the boosh bar (the owner of the pub owns the cocktail bar in bury) and whilst I had my interview they asked if I would like to work at the woolpack to get some bar experience. So I said yes and this started the worst experience of my life. First of, the landlord Graham, is the rudest man I have ever met in my entire life, whilst I was working he belittled me in ear shot of guests which max me feel so uncomfortable and frankly like a peasant. When I wasn’t working the landowner would message me on days that I wa...

First time ever been to this area. We was looking for a homemade pub grub that’s what we got when we went in on the Friday. In total there was 4 of us. We ordered… BBQ ribs, coleslaw fries from the special board DELICIOUS! X3 lamb shank, mash veg lamb was lovely also the mash, but could have done with a little more veg. Bread butter pudding little a bit dry thin piece Sticky toffee pudding Lotus cheesecake Spice apple crumble Food was lovely so we came back on Sunday for a Sunday dinner. All four of us had the beef dinner. We did look around as you do, to look what it looked like it looked nice. We did notice a couple in there have 1 veg plate between them both. The plate included… peas,...
Well where do I begin, we were in a happy mood as we went out for a meal to celebrate our sons birthday, we also had our dog with us, on approaching the Woolpack after parking we noticed a large garden to the rear with a few picnic tables so thought it ideal to eat outside with our dog, I went inside and asked if we could have our food outdoors as weather was nice, there was a shaking of the head from who I assume was the landlord, on reflection now we should have left there and then to find a welcoming pub elsewhere. Went inside to the so called sports bar, large billiard table in centre, 2 tables at the back with customers drinking vaping, we sat perched on 3 tiny stools an even smaller ta...
Having been told this place does lovely Sunday lunches we thought we would give it a go. Was quite busy. Only one girl doing all the work out front of house. The landlord was doing drinks. We were sat waiting a while for our order to be taken. We nearly left aa the place wasn't very clean. Dusty, dirty carpets and a melt fusty. People were eating away so we thought the food must be nice!!. We ordered beef dinner. Not given much at all. We only waited 5 minutes for the food to arrive. We were sat near the kitchen door but we couldn't smell any food cooking. We had not been freshly cooked food but Aldi ready meals!!!. Even the sweets were Aldi. Very run down. Avoid at all cost. Having sought out this venue as being dog friendly I was very disappointed after checking first with the lady behind the bar that the place was indeed dog friendly I found a comfortable spot only to be told by another employee that dogs were not allowed in the room. Relocated as requested into a much smaller room dominated by a pool table and had to perch on a stool next to a fruit machine. Friendly customers but didn’t stay long and decided to forego my intended bar meal as it was not possible to comfortably eat in the allocated space. If you are looking for somewhere to take your four legged friend then I suggest you look elsewhere.
We came here for refreshments after a funeral. Graham made things super easy for us and couldn’t have been more helpful. We had a room to ourselves (around 18 of us) with plenty of food, tea coffee. We didn’t go out in the garden, but it looked great! There wasn’t a disabled loo, but the loo was ground floor and not up/down any steps. They had a portable ramp so a wheelchair could enter the pub and once in, it was easy to get around. Good selection of beers and drinks and quick friendly service- they made a difficult time as easy as possible for us and I’m really grateful. It seemed a lovely pub.
Great fish and chip lunch with elderly relatives, excellent value for enormous piece of freshly cooked and perfectly battered cod for £12. Nice mix of specials on menu. Great service and lovely atmosphere. Plenty of parking and accessible to the less mobile. Lovely garden with a great kids area and even a pétanque pitch overlooked by an idyllic postcard village church.
Despite some reservations due to mixed reviews turned up with no pre booking and enquired about a table for two which Graham and Claire soon sorted Food was tasty and excellent value for money ..Both Graham and Claire were very friendly and chatty ..Could not fault our visit or food or hosts highly recommended.Baz Norfolk . My husband and I called in for lunch on the way to visit family. Lovely pub, a friendly welcome and very helpful. We had a lovely lunch and the prices were really good. Great value for money and my husband said his pint was great too! Can’t wait to visit again and Graham was lovely and we had a good chat.
Absolutely appalling place to eat. Landlord rude and talks to staff like dirt. The place is filthy and dated. Food is poor quality, I dread to think what state the kitchen is in.
