Thrifty Foods Duncan

I have shopped at Trifty 's for years. Over this past year, I have observed their prices going up and their choice of product going down. For my own interest, I did a side by side shop on my computer. Same items ordered from each store. The big difference I noticed was in the amount of food you got for your . Example being a 'bunch ' of vegetables almost the same price as a 5 lb bag at the other facility. Let 's just say, when I finished shopping the list, I was not happy with the outcome at Thrifty 's. The difference in what I obtained was significant enough that I will no longer be doing business at Thrifty 's. I also noticed the choice of brands is becoming smaller at Thrifty 's. Perhaps...

Thrifty’s used to be an independent supermarket company, but was bought by Sobey’s, ie a billion dollar company. Now, more and more products are “house” brands. Products Sobey’s contracts for at a lower price. For example, they used to sell Roots herbs. Excellent products. Now, Compliments fresh herbs. I bought a package of Compliments peppermint and when I got home, it was full of disgusting worms. Sobey’s is making record profits while prices rise and rise. But quality fans. Alas. I like many of the people who work there, but Thrifty’s isn’t a local company anymore. It’s just a revenue centre in a giant money machine.

The staff in this store are extremely helpful. Each of them I have asked for help has always gone out of their way to help. I specifically want to compliment on the Pharmacists. I did not get her name, but she is tall and has long, dark hair. She is PHENOMENAL at her job! I am in awe with the special care and information she shared with me. With a medication, I have taken for four years, she gave me tips that have made a HUGE difference in my energy levels, wellness and sleep.

Called to get a free cake they ADVERTISE for 1st birthdays….. this place doesn’t even have a cake decorator in the middle of summer for 3 weeks! If you need a cake don’t waste your time at this Duncan location. So disappointing

I bought 10 hanging baskets, very nice quality plants . Had many varieties to choose from. Lovely conversation wth cashier. She admired my choices. Shared her bad experience from another plant store . She was very nice

Grocery store with pretty much everything you need.They also sell ready to eat food at reasonable prices.They also have washrooms.

Love the produce and bakery. I really like their deli section, but it's all a bit pricey, so I can't go as often as I'd like.

Great food store a bit more expensive but there selection of foods and great fresh baked foods and deli make it worth a visit

Most expensive place to buy groceries in Duncan. Don't mention the prices to staff or you'll get banned from the store.
