We chose to dine at Tiien Thai tonight based on its recent award in the local Bournemouth Echo. Despite our anticipation and pre-booking, our experience left much to be desired. Upon arrival, the restaurant's entrance and overall ambiance seemed lacking in the vibrant and cultural Thai theme we expected. The decor felt uninspiring. The extensive menu offered a variety of choices, but our disappointment grew when we discovered that the curry, priced at a minimum of £15, did not include rice – an additional charge of £4.50 for boiled rice seemed excessive. The ribs we ordered as a starter were notably fatty, with minimal meat, and lacked flavor. The service further contributed to our dissatisf...
I would go back maybe. I have never had under seasoned Thai food but a little soy sauce fixed it. The tiger prawns were obviously pygmy tiger prawns but tasty nonetheless. Satay is not hard and this was in need of improvement. The chicken was not best quality and the satay sauce was a revved up peanut butter sauce. One of my guests had a much better experience so that accounts for the go back maybe comment. The decor, bare walls, concrete columns and more like a hotel dining room in East Berlin before the fall of the wall. So why would I go back ? Everyone has an off night.
I have been a loyal customer of Tiien Thai for years. In my opinion, the food at this restaurant is the best in the area. Dining at Tiien Thai always feels like a special treat, making it the perfect choice for many memorable special occasions over the years.
Poor ambience. Background music was 40's and 50's oldies from Perry Como, Pat Boone, etc! Authentic Thai music would surely be better. A few pictures on the walls showing Thai scenes would also help.

Great restaurant, no issues. Everything was delicious. It was a bit expensive on Christmas day, but we anticipated that. If we're in the area again, we will definitely return.

Best Thai meal, I have had in a long time, next time I'm in Bournemouth I will definitely go back.
