I visited here with my mum for a mid-week lunch. Neither of us had been before. There is no dedicated parking but it is on the main drag through the town and we walked from a pay and display car park in less than five minutes. We have never been to Melton Mowbray before so didn 't know where to go. We saw a sign for here and the menu looked nice so we decided to try it. The cafe is in a little covered arcade. You can sit inside or 'outside ' which is in the covered arcade but outside of the cafe itself. We decided to do that as it was a lovely day. The cafe doesn 't do table service so you order and pay at the till before eating. I ordered the ham salad and my mu ordered the Ploughman 's with a coffee and walnut cake for after. She ordered a milky coffee and I ordered a tap water. The cafe doesn 't look like much from the outside but we were very surprised at how lovely it was. They appear to have a lot of regulars and the waitress knew most people who came, chatting to them all. The food is very reasonably priced. Although I 'only ' had a ham salad, it all tasted lovely and the ham was decent quality. My mum said her Ploughman 's was very nice, with the only complaint being that the edges of the bread roll were quite stale and she had to leave a little but as it was rock hard. She said the cake was delicious. The cafe does have toilets but you need to get a key for these and go up a couple of flights of stairs to access them. It 's better than them having NO toilet, but we were shattered by the time we reached them! I 'm also not sure what was wrong in the toilets, but there was a VERY strong smell of ammonia gas chemicals as soon as you opened the door. You couldn 't smell a thing from directly outside the door but on entry, it was overpowering. To the point we thought there might be a chemical leak or something! We would happily return here should we visit Melton Mowbray again. It was good value food, friendly service and a great price point.
