They water down their vodka. They take advantage of the fact that the bar is full of 19 year olds who do not know any different. We ordered a vodka soda and it tasted like just water. I have never done this before, but it was so clearly just water that I went back to the bartender and asked what type of vodka he put in the vodka soda. He reached under the bar and pulled out a blue tinted bottle. I asked him how much is a shot of this? I would like a shot. He looked around nervously and said uhhh €5, but let me get you a shot of the Absolut, for you same price. I said no thank you, I want a shot of exactly what you poured in this vodka soda. He then conveniently forgot how to speak english and brought over the Manager, who got extremely defensive very quickly, saying I had never had French vodka before and it was very smooth. I assured him I have had plenty of Grey Goose in my day (which is French), and water is certainly very smooth. I put €5 on the bar and said just a shot, please. They reluctantly poured me one and indeed it was at least half water, which I called them out on immediately. The Manager then got extremely defensive, and while he was talking to me, the bartender opened a new bottle of the well vodka brand and poured me a 2nd shot, thinking I was distracted by the Manager and did not see the switch. I did in fact see the switch. This place waters down its vodka; oldest trick in the book for unsuspecting 19 year olds and drunk tourists, but I was not drunk and am much older than their typical clientele.
We came here randomly. Just looking for cocktails or a bar with good music. What we found was a bar with homemade vodka and rum. We told the bar men what flavours we like and they rustled up 2 cocktails for us which were some of the best cocktails I've ever had! They weren't too strong and sometimes you 2wnt w cocktail to be strong but then you don't enjoy it. But these had not so strong alcohol but such distinctive flavours. Pistachio and raspberry in the other! So tasty. The bar men were very friendly and helpful! Would 100% recommend!!!!
The bar was surprisingly small and cozy. The red lighting creats a sensational atmosphere which is great for a late night date or simply for partying and getting tipsy ; The owner (and the bartender at the same time of the place is super nice and friendly. My boyfriend and I were really welcome there. He was personally making sure to mix the cocktails in a way that goes to our taste the most. It 's a must visit palce if you 're at Nice!
