Yesterday, my wife, 3-year-old son, and I visited Toby Carvery Wolviston/Billingham for Sunday lunch. It was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had. Despite being recommended by friends, I wish we had not gone. The restaurant was extremely busy with long queues, but we were seated fairly quickly. After waiting in line for about 15 minutes, I finally reached the carvery. I opted for the King Size Sunday Lunch for an extra £1.49, which included an extra Yorkshire pudding, two sausages, and more meat. it was for Sunday dinner for a group of friends. the venue was very busy a good sign, as popularity usually corresponds to returning customers. we ordered drinks. I wanted carbonated mineral water, but still had to settle, as there were no carbonates. all 7 of the party had the carvery and a pudding. the waiting queue at the carvery was long, but very fast moving. the food was good. It's been awhile since our last visit to The Toby Carvery at Wolviston and will be much much longer before we return. The vegetables were not replenished and several of the dishes were empty or nearly empty, all food was luke warm and tasteless. Gravy was thick, glutinous and cold. We had to remind staff about our drinks order, which eventuallyarrivedhalf way throughthe meal. My stickie toffee pudding was cold and was promptly replaced upon request, but sadly this was also only like warm. The crunching sundae was superb.

Visited here on the weekend of the Tall ships festival for a late afternoon Sunday lunch. We had booked, which is definitely advised! On a Sunday there are 5 meats available and plenty of choice of veg to help yourself to. Toby carvery does what it says on the tin, simple carvery service, decent food at a good price. Ice cream desserts gave a great finish to the meal too. Only bad thing I can say about this venue is the odd location, pretty much at a service station on the main road but apart from that, it’s great!
Great place for lunch albeit rather busy. School holidays didn't help the feeling of chaos but I guess its nice to be in demand rather than contracting. The staff unfortunately seemed to be wilting under the heat both outdoors and in. Whilst food was great somewhat uncomfortable eating indoors and outdoors is near a busy road. If you come here when there is no heatwave I'm sure you will be fine.
Definately one of the better Toby's. Really cosy inn feel with plenty of outdoor seating. Good selection of meats as always and lovely selection of vegetables. My one issue is that they have far too many halogen lights in here which coupled with low ceilings and the large carvery area just makes this a bit uncomfortable during the current heatwave.
as arrived, had no reference to our booking and were extremely busy so that we could not get taxable. wasted our time as we had to find another place to eat. what made our meal later and more expensive. even if we had an e-mail confirmation, we wouldn't give a table.

We visited for friends birthday,parked in a designated disabled spot displayed blue badge . Entered the Toby and put thr reg no into machine. I have now received a parking fine. What's going on.
