very disappointing experience. under the condition that the service does not want to be constrained, it actually creates to come as lazy and uninterested. we had a prefix menu without a single court being declared. if they eat something as unique as Japanese inspired Italian cuisine, I personally need a small description of the aromen or the logik behind it. if not by the server, then at least in the menu. we had a weingut, where not a single wein was named or described for us. My dad and I came the day after they opened, and then again the Saturday after twice in a week, and we absolutely loved both times. It's very difficult for a restaurant to have everything up and running so smoothly opening week, and yet Tonari's kitchen and front of house staff were flawless. Service was extremely friendly and approachable without hovering, and each dish we ordered was perfect. Sharing a couple starters, a pasta dish, a pizza, and dessert was more than plenty, and we were pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive the bill was.
it was amazing! I love italian and I love japanese, and this is a before made in heaven. the Hawaiian pizza is a tasty teig delicious aromas that pasta is like nothing I have tried before and do not forget to leave place for dessert. they can't go wrong with everything they order here. inventive and excellent service. Be careful to sit at the “Floor Tables” they will also be surprised.
Tonari is a great addition to Chinatown and perfect before something at the Verizon Center. Drinks are $12 with a mix of classics (cosmo, old fashioned) and more Asian inspired options. The bar is first come first served and offers the full menu. I highly recommend the tofu (made in house), the corn pizza, and no matter what, get the Uni pasta.

so delicious we went back the next day! I was so surprised by all the different aromes and how well it all went together. also not a big fan of red beans, but I would get her red bean desert here again!

What a wonderful experience. The food is absolutely amazing. Don’t be fooled. This is not a pizza joint. Wafu is an amazing dining experience.
The pasta and pizza were fantastic. The service was excellent. I really enjoyed the unique concept of dining barefoot.

This is the best pizza I've ever had, and the pasta was also exceptional. Chef Fukushima has impressed once again.
High quality food and good service. Very interesting menu. I do wish that they had more asian flavor.
