What a little hidden gem this place is! A lovely relaxing spot in the sunshine, quiet with extremely friendly staff, a short walk from The Shambles. We were greeted right away and shown to an outdoor table. The coffees and hot chocolate were wonderful, the best we’ve had in a long time. We also ordered a small hot chocolate for our child, and the owner was so warm and friendly asking if he’d enjoyed it, and even later returned with a little complementary brownie bite for him. We also had our dog with us and they were very dog friendly and made a lovely fuss of him. We would definitely return and recommend this lovely place to all! You will certainly be treated well :
This was a disappointing visit. We order coffees and sandwiches. The coffees arrived but no sign of the sandwiches. We didn't have a lot of time as we had booked to go to the York Story (definitely worth it) so my sister asked how long they would be at the counter. When she realised they hadn't started making them she asked if we could have them to take out. They were put in brown paper bags but they hadn't been cut in half or squares or triangles. Just two slices of bread slapped together with a filling. Not very satisfactory.
After a wonderful evening in the kitchen and bar of Trio, we came to the cafe for coffee and were able to thank Mehmet, Sam, Gunesh and Matt personally for their kind hospitality despite how full the place was! The food and drink , as usual, were perfect! Judge for yourself from the photo below. PS, that is the man himself in the background and a more likeable gentleman you could not meet. So why not visit and shake Mehmet by his hand?!
I enjoyed the brie and caramelised onion panini, though it was £7.95.... Hot chocolate was £3.70. Small, busy popular place. Very nice inside. Has sheltered outdoor seating to the front on the pavement. Loyalty card system. Pleasant ambience. At busy times and if it's a cold day, you may struggle to get an indoor seat. Out of all the coffee shops we tried, Trio's served the best coffee! The coffee was smooth, strong, but not bitter and had lovely fragrant taste. This shop is run by a lovely family, who took the time to chat to us and even took the time to teach me some Turkish. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
A hidden gem…. Keep walking to the bottom of the shambles and you will find a sunny spot to sit for coffee or tea and a lovely selection of cakes. Very friendly service run by a jolly family! Also their restaurant next door, and although I did not dine, the menu looked inviting.
