I first reviewed this restaurant on June 9th and it was a 3 based on the meals 4 of us had that night. The manager, running the class act that I think Tropical Acres is, contacted me and ask for a second chance since they had just reopened after a fire and he was working on improving the quality of their meat. Now it is July 27th and there has been some improvement. My wife had the Steak Au Poivre, which is a NY Strip med. rare with a tasty sauce on it with baked potato and a Cesar salad. It was cooked perfectly and was very tender a 5 .. I had the 25 ounce Porterhouse med. rare with creamed spinach and a salad. The fillet side, though a little small, was perfect a 5 . Tropical Acres has been a staple on Griffin Road for many years. The prices are excellent, and the food is consistently good. Their specialties are steak and seafood. While the menu isn’t particularly innovative, it offers reliable dishes. There’s plenty of parking available, including valet service. This location is frequently used for private parties and banquets. Overall, you can expect good food, drinks, and a piano player to enhance the dining experience.
My parents began taking me to this restaurant when I was a child, and now, 40 years later, I still visit 3 to 4 times a month. I have yet to discover a better value, and the food is always outstanding! While the steaks are fantastic, I recommend trying the rosemary-encrusted rack of lamb for something different. It's now my favorite dish on the menu. You can't even find lamb chops at the butcher for the price of $20 for 8 chops from the rack!
