Great food as always and good portion sizes. Prices have gone up quite a lot as is the case with everywhere but the quality of all the food, and I mean all the food is excellent. I just wish they would sort the coolers out for the beer. I’ve mentioned it to the staff a few times and they agree with me but nothing changes. All the hand pull beers should be colder !!!!! Especially in the summer when it’s 24 degrees plus outside. And the larger that are pulled in the bar are always colder that the ones in the lounge as they come from a different cooler.
The WORST place i’ve ever been. The blonde male member of bar staff is the rudest person i’ve ever met, made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in his pub. i was there to buy 2 bottles of wine and a bottle of champagne and they instead; treated me like dirt and declined my order for no good reason, despite presenting my id. It’s the filthiest, scummiest pub in st. helens. BE WARNED. Also; the beer lines were dirty and cloudy and the glasses were filthy, with lipstick stains all over. No care taken from the bar staff to avoid this.
Went for sunday lunch today , waited about an hour and 15 minutes for the food to arrive which wasn't a problem, but wasn't asked if we wanted any sauces , had to go to the bar to ask for salt and pepper. Would have given the roast beef dinner a 10 /10 but for the fact it wasn't hot , just warm . No one came to ask if everything was ok so didn't bother to say anything as we'd waited so long for the food already .
Beers as usual was bang on. Great selection wether you want real ale cider or lager (Madri superb). Had a salt n pepper chicken which was excellent and daughter went for chilli and garlic seafood linguine which superb and . Fantastic place

The Sunday lunch was something else me and my partner agree best we’ve had in a long time! Good portions sizes and considering they said an hours wait come well before that. Will definitely be back
Had a lovely meal , the portions are really big and the food was great came again a fortnight later with the family and yet again didn't disappoint food was lovely
Meet here monthly to catch up with old friends. The staff are amazing so friendly . Brilliant pub , good food the best pub I’ve ever been to!
Nothing wrong with the ale but cash is not accepted. Really? This should be aa choice cash or card payments. My cash will go elsewhere.

Sadly they DON'T TAKE CASH so walked out! Gutted as heard there food is really good but can't support a business that's card only.
