This was our first tasting menu experience. The setting itself, the restaurant looks nicer from outside than inside, the tables for 2 are too small, once they put your drinks printed menus, food etc it's awfully crowded. The food itself was good... I can't say I had one course that was mind blowing and there were a couple which were sub par. Based on just this I probably would have given it a 4 out of 5 stars however the main reason we felt it was a bad experience is it is just far too overpriced. Absolutely excellent! I discovered this restaurant years ago under previous ownership, and I couldn't believe how good the food was for the price. The new owners have taken it to the next level. The menu is delightful, the cooking is sublime, and the service is outstanding. A special highlight was the fantastic amuse-bouche, along with thoughtful pairings and information from the sommelier for each glass of wine. The decor is minimalist yet comfortable, creating an incredibly intimate atmosphere. It won't be long before this place deserves its first Michelin star. I took my fiancée to r22 for a birthday dinner, and we opted for the vegetarian tasting menu. He paired his dishes with soft drinks while I chose to have wine, which turned out to be a fantastic idea, especially since some of the courses brought tears to our eyes! The soft drinks complemented the meal well, offering intriguing flavors. The entire experience lasted about three hours, and the staff were friendly and attentive, explaining each course in detail. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend r22 if you're ready for a memorable dining experience!
the most incredible meal I've ever had! I don't even know where to describe it. from the first to the last piece, each dish burst with harmonious taste. I did ate that I would normally despise and even hear a grown man from another table to ask for changes because he 't like ' certain ingredients 'dn't like '. he really missed it! the service is 5 stars, all the workers were amazing and super helpful. whatever the occasion, book the damtic and eat it here because there is no possibility, they will regret it. And about the food – every dish was meticulously described, dietary needs were fully accommodated, and most importantly, everything tasted absolutely divine. We indulged in the 7-course tasting menu, and there are still elements I'm craving a week later! While we didn’t opt for the wine pairings, hearing the sommelier share selections with other tables made us wish we had – maybe next time! A huge thank you to Sam and all the staff, both front and back of house, for making our evening so memorable.
Absolutely amazing. £90 tasting menu plus wine is clearly not a cheap night out but if you love your food worth every penny. Staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Showcase of the best of locally sourced food. Worst aspect is actually getting a reservation due to the intimate venue size! Will be going again
