I waited 35 minutes in the drive-thru, and for $17.99 plus tax, this is what I received. I had ordered a Fish and Shrimp dinner that was supposed to come with fried okra and green beans. Instead, I was given three tiny fish fillets and some overcooked, dry shrimp. As you can see, the okra is almost nonexistent—I think I received maybe five pieces. I'm not usually one to complain, but this is unacceptable. If you’re out of a side dish, you should inform customers. We visited the restaurant and placed our orders at the counter before our meals were brought to our table. We arrived just before the lunch rush came to an end, and even though the staff was quite busy, they were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The menu is shown on a screen behind the counter, but it scrolls, which makes it a bit challenging to see everything at once. The food was outstanding; one of us had the grilled fish, which was cooked to perfection—moist and flaky. The grits and greens were excellent as well. I’m disappointed to write this because my family and I used to love this place. During our last visit, we had to wait over 30 minutes, and it took at least 45 minutes for our food to arrive. After waiting 30 minutes, we were informed that they were out of one of the dishes we had ordered. We ordered the special—poppy chicken—at 6:45 PM, but when our food finally came, there was no chicken on our plates. When we mentioned this to our waitress, she explained that it was the end of the night, and that was all they had left. After about 30 minutes of waiting, I called the restaurant to ask how much longer it would take, and I was told that our food was coming out immediately. We were the only customers there, so the wait felt even more frustrating. Eventually, a guy brought our food out, and when I asked what had caused the delay, he mumbled something and quickly walked back inside. As for the food, the burger was greasy and not at all appetizing—it made my stomach upset. I really dislike wasting my hard-earned money, especially on such poor service and food. I was drawn in by the cinnamon rolls I saw advertised outside, so I decided to go in. I also ordered a coffee and pumpkin cake. When I placed my order, the staff mentioned they had some cinnamon rolls available. After paying, I only received my cake and coffee, and was still waiting for my cinnamon rolls. They even asked if I wanted them warmed up. So I waited. When I went back to the counter to inquire about my cinnamon rolls, they informed me that they had sold out a while ago. I was quite disappointed.
During my visit, I decided to try a few desserts. I ordered the Turtle Cheesecake, which was rather unremarkable, and a chocolate cake that also fell short of expectations. The coconut cake was okay, but nothing extraordinary. The only reason I didn't give this restaurant a one-star rating is that I was hoping for a more homemade breakfast experience, but sadly, that wasn’t the case. They might have better lunch options, but given my breakfast experience, I won’t be coming back to find out.
I also wanted to try some desserts, so I sampled the turtle cheesecake, which didn’t impress me. The chocolate cake was similarly unremarkable, but the coconut cake was actually quite good. The only reason I didn't give a lower rating is that I had hoped for more of a homemade breakfast experience, but that certainly wasn’t the case. I might think about returning for lunch, but after this breakfast experience, I'm not feeling motivated to do so.
When I arrived at the restaurant, I was immediately impressed by how welcoming everything appeared. The atmosphere was delightful, and the staff were exceptionally friendly.
