I've been here recently in February, 2014 and it was my first visit. The restaurant is a little hard to locate and parking in this area of Cabramatta can be a little tricky so I was forced to walk some distance. The interior is basic and down-to-earth. I was here to try the flat egg noodles with pork, cooked using lard. The dish had a fragrant aroma and obviously with lard being used, there was a very pleasant taste. I wouldn't take the dish too often but there were certainly no complaints about the taste or the freshness of the noodles and pork. Also, the pork looked lean. No longer hidden at the back of an alley, they're now just off John street, where Huong Xua used to be. The place is red and black, narrow and deep and opens late. They used to make their own crunchy egg noodle but it's bought in these days, not a bad thing, these noodles are firm and lively. Of the combos, the duck leg is the most popular, a huge hunk of meat that dominates the bowl. It's the sides which intrigues, chrysanthemum leaves which you should dunk immediately into the soup. Mon préféré à table ici est les "nouilles de la batterie de porc". Douleur C'est une belle combinaison d'arômes et les culottes de porc sont juteuses, juteuses et saveurs. J'aime plonger la viande dans l'huile de chili, qui est douce et copieuse dans une portée. Having heard good reviews about their duck leg noodle soup, I finally manage to try this place. They are now located at more accessible spot near the station rather than their previous location in the hidden dark alley. At first, I thought the soup will be like herbal type but their version has clear broth soup base served with perfectly cooked egg noodle. The noodles cooked with pork trotters is simply divine - whether dry or soup. Noodles are perfectly done with the pork lean and flavoursome. The sauce I understand is cooked with lard so if you're looking for that indulgent moment, this is it. Their chilli sauce is homemade and goes very well with the noodles. The place is run by a couple with their daughter, which is really pleasant. Will be back for more!
This place serves what they can do best, i.e. noodles. And there is no question about it. If you like needles, be it in soup or served dry. no other place can be it. The noodles are cooked just right - not too soft, not too tough. You'll feel the difference at your first mouthful.
One of my mates brought me here, his favourite place to eat in Cabramatta. I went with the pork hock noodle soup with rice noodles. Absolutely massive dish with lots of flavour from the pork on the bone & fresh chilli. Not as cheap as I expected but still well worth the $13.
